That is indeed, a thistle. They are everywhere over here! Must have followed all the Scots/Irish folks that migrated to north Ga. lol

Well, learned something now! :D Also this:
The thistle, the floral emblem of Scotland, features in many Scottish symbols and logos, and on UK currency. Heather is also considered to be a symbol of Scotland.
