Bonus bust be upon you, rahhh scary-scary!
This was yet another thing that we (meaning, me and bota) set out to include at the start of the commission, back before we expanded upon the scope of it. Again, she poured so, so much effort into making these for me, I will always be aware of just how unique and gracious that was to do. Calling my updated design an "extended reference" barely covers it, if even!

This piece, though. It is a unique and incredible feeling, to see yourself reflected on the screen in such a manner. Here, let's provide some context:
Throughout the course of my sona's updated designwork, I had the privilege of bantering or chatting about all sorts of things with bota, and one topic that came up was the idea of little keepsakes! You can see some of them on said extended-reference, of mine - specifically, of my bracelet. It's a story fit for the ears of those I know, so all I'll say is this: I received that bracelet as a gift from someone I didn't know that well nor long, but yet was able to reach a meaningful connection with. That connection was based on simple kindness and grace given, and culminated in me giving them a gift to hopefully guide them onwards after we parted. They responded by giving me that bracelet in turn, not as a mutual exchange but rather similar token of regard for precisely that purpose: to remember them by.

The relevance of this story? The idea that bota tried to communicate here was, perhaps showing in this expression: what that friend might have seen, from their perspective. The soft atmosphere of a quiet aquarium. Slow swaying of fur in the water. In a word, gentleness.
That is rather meaningful, I think. To see oneself mirrored, exposed even, in just such a tangible way. Aghrh. Words fail me - enjoy the art! 🌿
