SEGA and Sonic Team absolutely had no idea what they were doing with their mascot and honestly, I'm so happy they didn't.
Even the soundtrack development was mostly down to Yuji Naka just liking TJ Davis' vocals so much that he wanted all the stages to have vocal tracks. What a perfect decision.
