The problem is that once you're touched by a god, it leaves a mark that every other god can see/smell/taste or just "sense". Consequently, it means the one touched was, and possibly still is, worthy of attention for some reason. Either they have something, they are something, or will be something of interest.
And when you have been torn away from what you once knew, and dumped in a world of eternal boredom, such touched individuals are like a flame to moths.
