Those words have been passed down through my tribe for generations, but I had to learn for myself what they meant- see, Chaos energy isn't something that belongs solely to the Emeralds. It's all around us, passing through every living being like the air we breathe... we all FEEL its pulse, but only a few people seem capable of turning it into something tangible.
I don't know why a fake Emerald was able to awaken your affinity for Chaos, but I know this: if you want to control that Chaos, you have to be able to harness your emotions; they're what it responds strongest to. Take what you're feeling, form the shape of it in your head- and let it out into the world outside yourself.
When you first conjured all that energy, what do you remember feeling?
Uh... anger, I guess. Desperation. All I could think about was Hongcha being in danger, how I didn't wanna lose to that Gules guy. If he was gonna try n' take ME down, I knew I was gonna at least go down swinging.
Heh! Stubborn, resolute rage, huh... that's as good a place as any to draw Chaos energy from. It's like a fire, lighting up inside of you with only a few sparks- just be careful you don't let it run wild, or it can turn around and burn you too.
So, uh... this project was in a long period of development. Ever since people started getting inspired by SanyDraws on Twitter to redraw the one panel of Shadow using Chaos Control in DC x Sonic (https://x.com/SanyDraws/status/1912517985782423854), I'd had it in mind to make a version w/ Frost since he eventually gains access to Chaos powers of his own in the Returners storyline- buuut I wanted to do something extra with it, to give me an opportunity to draw some of the motion blurs & speed lines I love in shonen battle manga & western hero comics. Little did I know that want would cause me to slip from the project for months... but with this being (apparently) my 500th Deviation on DA, I wanted to finalize it as something special to commemorate the occasion. Everyone's gotta aura farm their OCs a little now and then.
Part of me thinks the background is still a little too cluttered & the 'impact' of Frost's punch could be improved, but I've spent waaay too much time on it and this is probably as good as the comic page is gonna get. I'll have to work on other stuff like this in the future to see how I can improve the feeling of such movement, 'cuz action shots are a subject I VERY much wanna draw more of.
