To answer your description's question: No. Shrews -- notoriously, -- are oftentimes confused for rodents when they really, really are not.
One way I try to put it for others is that, "they're basically moles with tiny hands and feet, and 'big' eyes (since moles' are barely visible)". They're called, "Eulipotyphla / Eulipotyphlans": the same family as hedgehogs; solenodons; moles (as you now know); gymnures, and desmans.
