Downtime.

From left to right, there's Che, who proxies for the ship's AI. She's often overheating, and wears specialized clothes and takes cold showers. She's paid well for it, and for the most part gets to walk around the ship and relax; in the middle is Chris, who somehow has come into possession of a sizeable long-range freighter spaceship. Though they're always a paycheck or two away from trouble, he always tries to help people, strangers or otherwise, when he can... if he isn't doing paperwork or goofing off; Kai is the ship's cook, an Avian who grew up on the Hawaiian islands on Earth. They like surfing, which isn't easy in space, and make sure to add a touch of flamboyance to their day, in how they act, dress, or god forbid, make meals... I think Kai and Chris spend a lot of downtime together, both being from Earth.
