Zenith Nadir (Woohoo, finally, wings and a tail!)
It had been like over a month since I tried doodling Zenith, so I figured it was time I tried again!
This time I wanted to get the wings in there finally! I also wanted to get a second color in...
I've had gold as an accent color in my head for awhile, I'm hoping it doesn't look TOO basic, there are a LOT of red dragons with gold chest/wings/tail accents out there... Or at least I notice them a lot lol...
Probably some American Dragon Jake Long inspiration leaking in, he had similar red base, gold accent colors.
I messed a bit more with layers this time too, turned out mostly ok, but I screwed up on a few things, if you zoom in on the neck, the lineart is somehow clear or something, and the right wing is leaking through into it for some reason... Oh well!
More obvious of a screwup is that I drew the tail on the main body layer, so I couldn't put it behind the left wing (Zenith's left, not our left, idk why I started calling left/right from the perspective of the subject, it's what doctors kinda do... but i'm not a doctor lol, so idk what the proper default to assume someone means when they say "the left" is exactly... OFF ON A TANGENT HERE).
Ideally the tail would be coming out behind the left wing, but oh well I haven't exactly defined how the wings attach to his back, so maybe he just uncomfortably shoved his left wing around his tail? SURE LETS GO WITH THAT!
Oh I'm doodling these on a samsung tablet with the penup app, it's really convenient, but idk if I like the app that much... I have a screenless wacom, maybe I'll try doodling on that with my PC? Krita is kinda nice (I'm a cheapass, don't want to pony up the cash for photoshop/an iPad w/procreate), I'll try it again sometime...
OH, and I started signing my stuff, feels kinda silly since im such an AMATEUR, buuuut they say ALWAYS SIGN YOUR ART! And MAN OH MAN, look at that signature! What a COOL coincidence that Z and N are just a 90 degree rotation of each other, so Zenith Nadir can be written the way I wrote them in the signature... Idk if anyone else thinks it's cool, but when I was just quickly scrawling out Zenith, and then thought of where to put Nadir (or IF to even bother putting it), phew it felt like I struck GOLD with that idea haha...
