I created Molecule Mink basically as a plot device for vampire bat superheroine Jenny 'Feratu's backstory, where she and her cousin, the future supervillain Johnny Drac, were attacked by the brash young superhero in the 1950s. At one point, it was going to be a jock from the local college who turned out to have super strength, but I decided to go for a sci-fi-themed superhero instead to contrast with the supernatural vampires. He's a particle physicist with phase-through-solid-objects powers.

In the time this pic takes place, he's in his 30s and he's mellowed somewhat. He eventually became a mentor to my techie/surfer dude otter superhero Streamline. I think you can see the influence.
