I only put the paper towels in there so the eggs aren't sitting on recently soaked sphagnum moss..its just until the moss becomes a bit more dry and not overly damp for the eggs..
She had a total of 9 eggs, one being a total dud - it was yellow and small. I'm afraid the one on top may not survive..but the rest look okay. She was wrapped around them when I got home..so I slowly separated her (she was not happy), and put them in her new nesting box.
I also put in a rat for her to see if she would eat and YES! She ate for me finally! Then I put her nesting box back in the cage with her in it..and she immediately vacated the nesting box. I don't know if she'll go back in or not...
Hopefully she does and goes back to taking care of them. If not, I'll be incubating them -somehow-..probably just by keeping temperatures humidity up properly like I'm already doing...
Anyways..these eggs are HUGE! I wouldn't be surprised if I end up with twins...if I successfully incubate and hatch'em.
