Back in 1966, after the booster failed to place Gemini IX's Agena docking vehicle into orbit, NASA launched a backup rendezvous target, the Augmented Target Docking Adapter. However, the nose shroud failed to fully separate prompting mission commander Tom Stafford to remark that the ATDA looked like "an angry alligator.

I shot these photos at the “Wild Lights” special event at the Sedgwick County Zoo in Wichita, Kansas. Asian lantern sculptures are scattered throughout the zoo. The theme for 2025 was "Journey Through a Magical Forest"
