*BOOF* -> “How are you doing!”

Hope all is well and that everyone has had an excellent start to their 2026 year :D

If you had anything special happen recently I would love to hear it! Personally I’m still working on a bunch of stuff and while I sadly didn’t get my CCNA last month I have my test scheduled in a week and a half so I’m spending a lot of my time prepping and after I admit been playing a TON of Arc Raiders with friends/my siblings XD (Woe to those who kill me at extraction, I have been writing down names and the wrath of a free loadout and my rage will be enough for their medium shields and kitted out blue tier weapons lmao)

However to my surprise not a lot of people tried to guess, so to those who saw the little challenge and merely attempted - I decided to draw them something as a little reward haha. (I guess at this point the slots for a free drawing are now filled and you must guess the actual name to get one haha). The three folk are

I technically had 2 ready (including this one) but I wasn’t happy with the way the other turned out so I’m redoing it as opposed to just letting it be. I will be contacting said person to reassure them it’s coming (and if you’re the one reading this then please know I’m still working on it XD).

In fact it’s been 3 months and even longer since I’ve promised to get these out - so oof please continue to be patient for this over stimulated dog haha.

Onto the drawing itself!

Beardsley is a small normal sized Australian Shepherd with a life consisting of having fun on his ranch, partaking in his hobbies, making sure the multi-million dollar business he owns (inherited but don’t say that haha) but doesn’t actually lift a paw to manage it is still chugging along, hopping on his PC and raging in multiplayer games, and riding around in his golf cart with monster truck wheels on his property while blasting EDM and drinking Cherry Kool-aid. Pretty normal day to day activities for an un-employed/employed dog! The only out of the ordinary thing in his well rounded life being that his best friend in the whole wide world is a GIANT MACRO red Siberian Husky. Said large canine roams the property doing whatever he feels like often, either eating, sleeping, carving handmade statues from large tree trunks with his claws, picking up people who trespass and carrying them back to the border of his property (with 1 warning, or else…) and constantly talking to Beardsley about literally anything as it’s in his Husky bones to just open his mouth and make noise XD

If you don’t immediately see Dudley the Husky when encountering Beardsley, it means he’s off a few acres over either napping in a bundle of trees or engaging in some other activity. Take your pick. This often fools ill meaning intruders like thieves trying to steal from the super rich “alone” Aussie as they think one dog in a remote part of the state is easy pickings for pawn shop items haha. Of course they are woefully ignorant that he has a 50ft tall body guard who just LOVES to deal with these kinds of situations, they entertain him dearly XD

This applies not only to normal folk, but even the occasional other macro (other macros exist??? Maybe just this one occasion haha) that stumbles upon the small dog and thinks “FOOD!”. Just like Xenith, the large black and white German Shepherd who after wandering onto the property with a peckish state of mind saw small little Beardsley minding his own business and thought he could just help himself like any other time he ran into a micro. Like any other hungry macro with his sheer size and strength - he was probably so used to just plucking up anyone he wanted and having no issue with performing the Black Ops 3 Gobblegum animation equivalent with a micro XD

So it probably intrigued Xenith while holding up Beardsley and giving him a quick verbal peek into what the future was to hold for the little guy once he went down the “slip n slide”, that the small canine was actually more annoyed and irritated with merely speaking to the giant Shepherd and not “screaming or begging for his life” type of demeanor that he usually dealt with. In fact, he didn’t so much catch a whiff of fear from the Aussie. Instead what he got was a retort - making fun of the macro’s “lack of experience” of how he scarfs down folk and then threatens him in a weird vague manner. How in the world is a micro gonna so much as make any of the pain receptors in the macro’s body fire, well other than some internal scratches here and there that come with “macro diet” territory haha.

So Xenith quips back further trying to remind Beardsley of his place in the food chain and his imminent consumption only for the Aussie continually being nonchalant about the whole situation. The German Shepherd mere moments away from his snack - blissfully ignorant to the VERY angry source of the small dog’s attitude, or lack thereof XD

If you so much as even THINK of harming the small Aussie, the Husky is gonna sniff it out and watch you like a hawk. Make no mistake, you will find out why Dudley’s reputation among the locals is that of fear and dread! If you’re a micro, like Houdini you will vanish without a trace and if you’re another macro then you will soon realize that despite the Husky’s easy going personality he can in fact, “throw hands” as the saying goes XD You can try to fight back but all you’re doing is giving the giant Husky both mental and physical stimulation - and some fun lmao.

It’s probably best for everyone if Xenith puts down Beardsley, promises to never return, to eat someone else instead (but none of the locals for he would catch Dudley's fury), and apologizes then to push his luck with the sled dog haha. If the large German Shepherd really is super hungry, then he can visit a neighboring cattle ranch instead (under supervision by Duds of course).

Too bad all the prior folk with bad luck crossing paths with the Shepherd didn’t also have a macro sized buddy to protect them, but be rest assured after this experience Xenith is gonna think twice the next time he’s hungry XD

I had A LOT of fun doing this one! Xenith tossed a bunch of ideas at me and we settled on this one and I did think the concept was pretty funny :D 

The drawing itself took a long time to be realized of course, but I’m very rapidly improving on how long an actual drawing takes me to do! The funny thing is I’ve improved in this way by actually slowing down, not speeding up. What I mean is that instead of rapidly sketching out an idea when I think of something, I take my time to really picture what the scene is before I do anything. And then when I am actually drawing, I do slow pencil strokes and try not to rely on snapping tools to make perfect lines for me. Then when I start to finalize details like the eyes and nose etc… I go even slower. This has made me so much more confident in tackling larger drawings because before I would struggle with taking SO LONG in even drawing ONE character rather than the entire panel. 

And in regards to the line art, I’m starting to be more conservative with how dark/wide lines are. I used to bold EVERYTHING and make all the lines thick but now I majorly do that for the outline and only for a select few parts. The art now feels more dynamic and sharp than my previous stuff. This drawing was immense practice for me, and I’m so happy with it - it’s probably my favorite drawing so far! Plus the background while not amazing I think it fits with the angry theme well and the outline of Xenith only being present and Dudley covered in red XD

Plus I’m experimenting with handlettering again! I used to do it all the time before then switched to a font, but now that my line control has gotten better I’m pairing that with a grid and *bam* you got decent lettering! It’s a bit on the smaller side, but I think it suits the theme here well.

Xenith himself has also always been super friendly and I adore his comments, so this is my way of saying thanks! When were noting back and forth for this, he was always super cool and very enthusiastic about our mutually enjoyed topics :D Plus I just love doing gift art. It makes me super happy haha. Plus I love German Shepherds so it all worked out lol.
