what's it like to be born as someone's mirror image but altered in all the spots they felt they could have been born right , not them but also not yourself could you ever learn to love them and yourself or would you spend your life thinking the same way about them ? what is it like to be exactly who someone else wishes they were while they exist as exactly what you wish you were , that is the plight of the bindi thought to only be born when someone's soul is fractured in two rendering them incomplete . no , rendering you incomplete as well no matter what you do there is a hole in your chest . born alone as their mortal twin is born to their family bindi rarely survive on their own unless they learn to get tough fast or are lucky enough to be pitied by a rule defiant time keeper or a mortal family who don't see them as evil or demon spawn due to the nature of their souls plight . regardless spike reflects puppy the kat in many ways and is a really good avenue for exploring the inner workings of puppy and is just my favorite little guy .



first of all spike (she/they) is selfish , they have always had to fend for themself for the most part . without spikes extreme dedication to self preservation she would have not survived in the mountainous region on her own , she much like puppy was discovered by the oracle of suffering however where puppy met him wayyyy later in life , heart was sought out by the sufferer due to their connection to puppy . he knew that due to the way bindis connect to fate and the time keepers eventually puppy would have to seek him out if he sought out spike first . so while spike was young he fostered this selfishness and taught spike that strength was the only way to survive and that ruthlessness is mercy . spike has 0 issues with killing others she deems as a threat to her . * puppy(starts she , then they , but later JUST he) however does not share this trait , puppy is scarred from losing gordy in the queens raid on their city where the book of prophecy was lost and puppy was with gordy when the guards took her . after her mentors capture their little training team kind of falls apart ** all the kids kind of lose hope and puppy becomes obsessed and blames herself HARD . her life's mission was to become strong enough to defeat the evil queen and to save gordy who she holds out hope is still alive and can be rescued . puppy blames himself for gordys capture and throws their life into their training , taking the lesson that they have to save everyone at any cost and essentially gains a martyr complex . puppy is autistic and has a high sense of justice so even in their secret identity they become their number 1 fan club member when no one believes in them . *** at this point they are training on their own when they find the old underground base gordy used to live in unlocked ( this is where puppy regularly paid respects so it being open was horrifying ) puppy goes in silently and notices the back room door unlocked and it's just monitors with blacked out figures with distorted voices to protect their identities , the council , the group gordy had been taking orders from . they made an appeal to puppy that gordy might still be alive and extend their knowledge to send puppy on real organized missions with actual intel , she just has to get a team together , this leads to the next way spike and puppy reflect each other ,


relationships , starting with family spike is everything rusty wanted in a daughter , she looks like him , she's tough as nails , subservient , dedicated , and mostly in touch with her feminine side . at this point puppy is hearing people start to favor rocket dogg but by this point puppy is going by they them for the most part , and pretty much everyone but their family actually respects this . rusty feels deeply ashamed and it's just another way their relationship is growing further and further apart , rusty destroys all of their rocket dogg drawings and memorabilia they had crafted and this is when puppy decides they can't do this shit anymore and with the councils help a convincing doppelganger is placed with puppys family to live as that perfect daughter they so wanted and puppy moves in to gordys old base and starts reaching out to the old members of the team . his relationships with friends rekindle now that they are all a bit older atp 16 instead of 10-12 (they started training at 8-10) . puppy desperately relies on his team , he puts their lives and safety before his own in every aspect , this FRUSTRATES them because it feels like he doubts them but he just deeply deeply cares for them and is terrified of losing anyone else . spike on the other hand has no friends she is only concerned with finding the other half of her soul and training so she will be strong enough and disconnected enough to take the other half of her soul ( yes by killing puppy ) all the oracle knows is the catalyst for the evil queens generational reign of terror to end is that this particular soul be whole by any means necessary and he won't pick favorites , his only goal is that when they combine their soul is as strong as it could possibly be . in that way they are both being used by the oracle of suffering which is another way they mirror , to fate they are just two pieces in a cosmic game of balance but both of them reject that balance in different ways , one killing himself by refusing to kill and the other killing herself by seeking to kill they represent two sides of the same coin each trying to save what they know love and hold dear .



their manipulation by the oracle is mirrored as well , spike seeing him as an all knowing father , puppy seeing him as a slimy self serving cowardly snake trapping him against his will to train him through torture , while spike sees her training as a necessary evil to make her strong enough to bend fate to her will instead of puppys .



they are drawn to eachother by fate and time when they meet they feel whole but also terror and hate neither know exactly what their roles entail and neither of them may even have the heart to do what needs to be done , could you kill what you see as perfection ? what makes you feel so suddenly alive what would you do when forces outside your comprehension were trying to force you down a path to salvation or is it the end of the world what would you believe if trained and given the chance to save the world ?



*the oracle is capable of tapping into a dimension that functions as a pocket universe that can connect points in the real world , in this dimension he has complete control so he uses it to train his prodigies in a plane where they cannot be killed , but can still feel the pain and effects of life ending damage . many of them



**( gordy was kind of secretly training puppy and their kid friends against their parents wishes without them knowing and believed either jet or puppy was the prophecy child specifically puppy who she viewed as a daughter and felt like she was just so familiar from the moment she was born but the prophecy specified the chosen child warrior was orange and puppy's only power was shapeshifting between a plain tan and brown form to a tan and orange form but jet is actually fully orange so she's not risking it by not training one of them but like she is the only one who believes it is puppy and jet is the only one with permission to be training so jet and puppy have a competitive relationship )



*** their dad fucking despises rocket dog their vigilante secret identity with orange hair and the more puppy trains the more their grades fall and the more their dad grows bitter and resentful towards them bc they are actively supporting "rioters and no good thugs " that it's better to stay quiet and not anger the queen who is slowly cracking down on the population due to small vigilante resistances . in this world doggs and kats are separated by a thick thorny wall their is a sort of speciesism as the queen is a wolf and her empire is wolf supremacist and believes causing division among kats and doggs "so called generational enemies" they will never be powerful enough to take down her army or empire . puppys father rusty is against stirring the pot and has given up hope on any sort of revolution and is just waiting hoping the next queen is better . while puppy is in school they hear that there are rumors about rocket dogg being really charming and a self sacrificing hero and then starts realizing everyone thinks rocket dogg is a man " because a girl couldn't be behind all these rescues" ( esp because femme presenting characters tend to wear clothes and rocket does not . )
