It's been a while since I talked about Maple and given some thoughts or lore. So here we go for anyone interested.
>>About
Maple is a robotic Chespin in a prototype stage. Developed as an assistant and research robot, Maple is designed to work around wild Pokemon and study them and their habitats. As well, Maple is made to work with humans - mostly young trainers - to help as an assistant while they are travelling.
The robot contains artificial intelligence programming, of course named Maple. Programmed as a female, she assists as needed. When out in the wild doing research on wild Pokemon, she is able to translate and retain Pokemon speech in order to share that information with researchers. As an assistant, Maple can retain information to help a trainer complete daily tasks, find their way, or find more information on a Pokemon with a built in PDA, PokeDex, and more.
>>Personality
Maple is programmed as a female who is willing to help wherever and whenever needed. She is loyal to whoever she is working with, and has a great ability to gather and utilize data to help provide solutions.
>>Abilities
As a Pokemon, Maple has very few abilities. She is unable to battle, but can perform basic headbutts and tackles. She does have vines built in for a simple Vine Whip, but these are only minimal defenses. Being a machine, she is vulnerable to electric, water, and fire attacks, though she is built with some water resistance.
As a robot, she contains a vast database on all known Pokemon and moves. at least until more are discovered and she is updated. She is able to determine what moves a Pokemon can use and learn, what damage those moves will cause, and more. She can also store data on request, and can recall it very quickly. Maple also can be repaired and upgraded for different uses and functions as needed.
>>Rulings on Maple
When used by a trainer, Maple can't be powered on while in a gym trainer or championship match and has to be turned off. She doesn't count as one of a Trainer's 6 Pokemon, but can be targeted by an opponent if desired.
As a computer, she can be confiscated for searching and forensics, just like any other electronic device.
>>Other things?
Maple is an acronym that stands for Multipurpose Autonomous Personal eLectronic hElper.
If you have any questions or thoughts, feel free to share them here, in private, or on Discord. Thanks for reading.
