Would You Ever Say To Me...?
...'stop. If you loved me, you'd stop?'"
-Hannibal Lecter to Clarice Starling
So, cerberusderozier has done some amazing work with her main character as Hannibal Lecter, drawing from both the movies and the original novels by Thomas Harris. I'm a big fan of the movies, the books, and Cerby's artwork, and she'd expressed interest in doing something in the future of Hannibal!Cerby and Wielder as Clarice Starling. I'm all too excited at the idea. I'll have to admit that in spite of Hannibal Lecter's...questionable hobbies, I've always found him to be an attractive, charming, and even likable character. Plus, I'll also admit that Anthony Hopkins is one of my "old man" crushes along with Sean Connery...hey, don't judge me.
So, the first character/scene study we have here is from the movie Hannibal, and it's the scene where Hannibal leans in close to mock nip at Clarice. Second study is just of Cerby as Hannibal. Tried to incorporate both Anthony Hopkin's expression and Cerby's own features. Had fun. Third study is of Wielder as Jody Foster Clarice. Both the second and third studies are HIGHLY referenced from screengrabs. Finally, last study is from one of the alternate endings to Hannibal in which our favorite anti-hero gets to kiss the girl. Quotes are from the movie.
...aaaaaand I'm also gonna blame, in addition to cerberusderozier, artaith-21 for some very strange inspiration for this series of character studies...
Hannibal!Cerby belongs to cerberusderozier.
Wielder belongs to me.
Hannibal Lecter and Clarice Starling belong to Thomas Harris.

Eh, wouldn't say that. I don't think I'd call this a fanfic romance so much as characters...well...playing characters. Stand ins in real scenes and all that.
As for real fanfic romances...I can't think of anything other than the Obi-Wan stuff where I would put Wielder in...hmmmm? Something to think on though.

Awww, thanks, but most of the credit goes to Cerby for the awesome portrayal. I agree, a staffie works well for Hannibal. I need to draw a young Hannibal too though. I loved how the actor they got to portray him showed his growth into the Hannibal Hopkins would later portray. What the hell, all the movies were awesome. Period.
I thought they could have picked someone who would grow into looking more like the Hannibal we're all used to, but that was, personally, my only beef with him. But, to each his own.
Of course, Anthony Hopkins is still my favorite...just nothing better than him for Hannibal. My husband and I actually just recently watched Manhunter (dunno if you've seen it, but it was the first rendition of Red Dragon), and I hated the guy who played Hannibal in that one. Thank God that I saw Silence of the Lambs before I saw that movie, or I'd have probably never watched anything dealing with the series again. Ugh. But, that was my opinion.

We found it used at an entertainment store in the mall. I'll say that I really did like the focus on Graham's character and how he really thinks about a crime scene and the killer who created it, and I liked the fact that it's William Peterson who's playing the character. I think he was a pretty good choice, and I've always loved him as an actor anyway. He really made it worth the watching, but it's probably one of those movies I'll never watch again. If you can't find a copy of it, I can always see if my husband wouldn't mind letting go of it as it's one of his movies, technically.
Oh yeah, I forgot about the different regions stuff. Dammit!
I dunno, I hated "Lecktor"...he just came off as "creep" rather than "cunning animal". Then again, I've only met one person who preferred Lecktor to Lecter, and that was a friend in high school...and he had pretty weird taste to begin with. It's worth a watch if you can get your hands on it easily enough.

Not yet. Damn computer. It's being fucked up today. I had to ask for an act of GOD to get the scanner to work today. Dammit. It's always when Ray's supposed to be working late that it decides to be pissy. Graaaarrrrh!
But soon...soon...hubby will fix it for me, and I can learn the whole song to terrorize my neighbors with...

Wow I didn't think I'd ever see a pairing like this though you pulled it off nicely.
To me Hannibal is by far one of the most intriguing fictional characters ever created. You know dude's a cannibal but at the same time he's so sauve and easygoing you'd never think twice about him possibly making life hard for you (or cooking one of yuor body parts =P).
Seriously though I'd kill to see some more Hannibal inspired stuff, it fits right in there with the Star Wars and Moulin Rogue art you've been doing

How am I supposed to remain calm and intelligent during my sales today when this is going to be on my mind?!
Kidding, I love this, and I love you! I can't wait to get home so that I can write you properly, but I'm fairly confident that even the Queen dropping in for a handbag or a suitcase would not even compare to the thrill I got seeing this!
And thank you VERY much for all the lovely words of support! It means the world to me!

Gah, late comment is LATE. My apologies!
I'm so glad you really liked these doodles. I had so much fun with them. As much as I love Star Wars and the world I get to play in with that stuff, it was nice to play in a world that I love just as much lol. Thanks so much for trusting me with your wonderful character and your own love of the Thomas Harris characters. I look forward to more of this stuff *sly grins*.

...just...the only way I can I sum my feelings about anyone like Hannibal Lecter kissing, let alone touching someone is the Charile Brown 'AUUUUUGHH'.
The way you drew this keeps the "icky" factor, especially in the top left and bottom panels, his eyes...frightening, that they speak of control, and want. (That, the clear fear in Clairice's eyes...just, cool.)

Ooooo, but it's a sexy sort of shudder, right? Lol, maybe it's just me.
There is definitely a dark sort of edge to the romance in that movie and the book, and I wanted to keep it that way. I'm glad that it seems as though I pulled it off. A few of you have talked about how chilling it is.

You're just our guide to furrifying our favorite movies, aren't you?
I have to admit, I haven't seen Hannibal yet, but you've certainly peaked my interest.
From what little I know, it looks like you captured Hannibal's intimidating, yet suave attitude. (I could be misreading this, but that's what it looks like.)
I can definitely sense the tension between them from the two snapshots on the right, despite Hannibal's coy expression.
And you always seem to capture all the emotion of a kiss, which I gather is remarkably hard with antho canines. (Though I never would have guessed the two scenes were from two different possible endings. They looked like a simply one after the other.)
As always, well done!

Lol, seems that I have been doing parodies (for lack of a better term) of movies a lot lately, huh?
Oooo, see the movie. It ends nothing like the book, but it's still entertaining, and I still like it.
I'm glad that you guys seem to like the way I captured these scenes and the characters. I wanted to keep that dark sort of romantic edge to it while keeping it a chilling moment at the same time.
And, God yes, kissing canines is one of the hardest damn things to draw.
