Rosefiles: Buddy and Parmeten

Yep it is time for more amazing files, this time featuring another mice duo, Parmeten and the apparently silent rat Buddy from the Nut Job series.

So the silent Rat buddy, if you read my series, you surely saw that the rat was not as silent as he used to be. In fact he shared quite some deep words with his old best friend, and well his demeanor also change for the bets with time and training. Time for a new Rosefile.

This time featuring Buddy Buddy, AKA Word Rose Fencer

Background for my series

Buddy remembers little of his own past. According to him, his memories started during a very stormy day down in Oakfield park. That storm… it was the reason he lost all his colony of family and friends and could not remember them anymore. All he does remember is being at the mercy of the winds that blew him away and that how he was still able to hold into a branch… and on the sights of a certain purple squirrel. That squirrel was named Surly…

Buddy remembers as how Surly jumped to save him, and because of the wind and the debris that the wind launched, Surly got knocked out and the roles reversed with Buddy saving Surly instead… and after the storm passed, he felt to scare to say another word, and that is why he just remained silent and to follow the squirrel that saved him. After that event, both decided to live together, including for doing what Surly called heists, which were daring plans to steal food from all sources, especially human’s food carts.

Buddy was always up to be with Surly and even if many ended up in failure, he always had fun and even added some of his own twists to each heist, which also ended in failure or that fixed the core of the problems with the heists. Still he felt his destiny was to be with the squirrel and that somehow was to remain at his side in good and the worse, and that was proven during their encounters and heists against humans and Raccoon their former leader that once tried to get rid of them.

After reclaiming their park, getting new allies and friends and even getting to do their heists for food, there was was nothing more than what they could ask for in life and for Buddy it was the perfect life…

But it was not meant to last forever…

Sciurus’ interventions and Rattus and Mus’ era

At some point, Buddy Surly and everyone else heard about the current state of the world, about the appearance of a new planet and the invasion of a new alien race. For surly and everyone, it was nothing but some kind of show off or a trick, something humans used to do as pranks. So their life continued as normal… except for Buddy, who had a feeling they had to give it a second thought and maybe brace themselves for am i coming catastrophe, similar to that storm.

He wanted to share everything he felt, but he could simply not as the fear from the memories of the storm kept him quiet… that and the apparent apathy from Surly or the others, except Andie and even she suggested to not dwell into a possible scam. However, for Buddy, the sensation and urgency of wanting to do something was similar to that day of the storm as if the history was a bout to repeat itself. Mr. Feng also had the same feeling when he and his colony were kicked out of his old park, and he wondered why no one was taking the situation seriously.

It was when a miracle happened, Buddy saw as how a rose bloomed from the tree, it was a white rose and when he took it was almost as if he recovered his words as he could no longer be mute and to no longer take the silence he decided to shield with… is was almost as if he wished to finally said, his whole mind to everyone, not just a piece of it. While he wished to say something, Mr. Feng also came and asked him if he also received a rose, and much to the surprise of Mr. feng, Buddy replied with actual words and phrases, claiming he wanted to share his own feelings and hunches to Surly and everyone else… but while trying to do so, the roses also had a little message they needed to decide quickly if they wished to be teleported to what it was called, a new life opportunity.

Both Buddy was the first to express he wished to bring Surly for him, but at the time he had enough of not having the strength to express what he wanted to say or be heard by others, so he was going to take this chance by himself, and hope that he could come for Surly later on. Mr. Feng also shared his thoughts and even convinced his own mice clan to join them and agreed with his plan and the only thing they left before going was a note with the word life… as a sign of changing their life and possibly come to share it with them.

With that they took their choice and teleported via the rose to what was left of Thorn Valley and joined many other mice and rats in waiting for what was called the new life opportunity. During the waiting, Buddy was questioning his own decision, wondering if it was worth abandoning Surly and the others for this so-called life opportunity. However, his doubts were short-lived as some weeks later, he saw with his own eyes the power of the Divine Rulers of Life and Death… and how powerful they truly were.

After learning the true role of Rattus and Mus, he established into a new house he made and while he decided to live alone, Mr. Feng still visited him and surprisingly he received visits from other mice and rats, claiming he looked like a lonely and in need to share and express his own emotions and inner thoughts. He dismissed such thoughts as there only a certain one he wished to burst his own words out… however, that also gave him an idea.

Said idea was to start listening and sharing sessions on many of the mice and rats who wanted to express their inner thoughts and experiences especially those life and death ones. According to Vitalic and Mortic, such experiences are meant to forge a calm and collected mind and to set them all into the mindset of focusing on their role as guardians of the life and death cycle.

Buddy had the idea that maybe sharing and letting such experiences out it would help them get a better understanding of how to deal with all mind of situations and to be ready for the best and worst of the upcoming missions and events. However, that still did not help Buddy and his own inner desires of bursting and wanting to give a piece of his mind to the one he wanted to talk so much.

He then started writing the words he wanted to express to Surly, if he ever saw him again as he was had a hunch he maybe somehow and by some miracle he was able to reach the new alien race which was described as squirrels. And during those times he was writing he was sure at some point the words started to glow and to cause havoc inside the studio… and that brought the attention of a certain mentor.

Relationship with Parmeten.

Parmeten saw once the havoc created by Buddy’s attempts to write words trying to express his own opinions about Surly and what he would have wanted to say. It was when he saw that indeed certain words started to glow and cause effects on the place, mostly explosions of energy. Parmeten then asked Buddy to focus on a rose he gifted him and to try and focus to transform it into a weapon.

Buddy was not sure how as he never had practice in using his own LifeForce… and it looked hard. Parmeten instead, told him that maybe he already had his weapon chosen and all that remained was to give it physical form. Buddy wondered and then focused on a white rose and much to his surprise, an apparently normal pencil spawned from the white petals, it was blue but the strange thing was that it had a white glowing point. It was also bigger than a normal pencil and it was almost like a small sword.

Parmeten then told Buddy to follow him outside to some of the training grounds and asked him to do the same and write words with the pencil. Buddy was confused but he did what was asked and tried to write on the rocks… with no result. Parmeten then added and suggested to do the same into the air, but this time thinking as if he was about to write something towards the squirrel called Surly. To focus on the feelings, and the burst of energy he felt when writing such words…

Buddy then thought about a certain time when he and Surly were about to be blown away by dynamite and while Buddy was not thinking about that word exactly he was thinking instead on a similar one: bomb so he used his pencil to write in the air, this time he actually created letters in form of a white energy and that had rose petal textures. The words them changed and formed a literal bomb this time heading into an area and making it explode into a white explosion of rose petals.

Buddy was at the loss of words, literally as he had little understanding for what he just did. Parmeten explained he literally brought his words to life, and explained those who had Life Force could use the energy to channel them and bring other stuff to life, even words, in Buddy’s case. Of course that meant he had to channel, focus and think throughly about the words he would be writing, otherwise the words instead would just be weak beams of LifeForce, that could serve to distract and knock off balance the enemies at best. The same result would happen with certain words… then the LifeForce would take form into the objects described and turn them into actual projectiles akin to the words written and have different results and effects.

For Buddy this new ability was now godsend, as no only he had the means to express himself, but also to use such words and phrases as an advantage into combat with him. Parked of course mentored him into using more more and more the said words and ways to use them as well as teaching him how to use the pencil as a sword as well, for close combats and in case enemies decided to rush at him.

During the trainings Buddy wondered why Parmeten took an interest into him, to which Parmeten replied, that while he was one of overseers of the afterlife he thought it would be fair to help those who were still living and to show them the inner strength inside them, much like he and his brother were given the chance, and he saw that Buddy held some inner struggles… and as part of his own duties, he wished to help the new Rattus and Mus to find a new way to get rid of such doubts and struggles. Besides he assured him, that the squirrel named Surly survived, as he never saw anyone with those characteristics inside the Afterlife.

That encouraged Buddy to keep practicing and to do his best, as he would make sure said squirrel would hear everything he always wished to say to him.

As you can see in this picture, this was one of those training sessions with Buddy, this time writing the word arrow and creating said projectiles to hit a target. Parmeten is encouraging the rat to work on the words and the many different effects he could, mostly explosions and wounds in forms of Life Force energy.

For Buddy it was already a huge help for him and his new role as overseer of life, he would make sure to continue exploring words and see what he could create. He felt Parmeten would be a new trusted best friend, until he finds Surly and settles everything down as he always wished.
