I took this photo with my Nikon FT2 film camera using Kodak Tri X 400 on a short camping trip I took to a local campground while I lived in South Dakota. I did not know that the following Monday I would be laid off from my job, resulting in a brutal job search and a summer where I spent most of the time trying to stretch out my savings and severance from my former employer. Ultimately I am glad I took that trip with my dog, we had a great time hiking and exploring the local park one last time. It is bittersweet to see these pictures again, the driveway and the house, as it makes me think about the life I had built up there and had to leave behind, but ultimately I am glad to be closer to family in MN again with a more stable and better paying job. I brought my little popup camper with me so this coming summer I am excited to check out and camp at the local parks and state forests in this area with the dog.
