Perhaps, throwing your lot in with a merciless, manipulating creature, just barely shy of being the story's villain isn't the smartest decision. Perhaps, all the misery and suffering that would surely come about as the result is worth considering. But sometimes, oh sometimes... if there not some joy to be found in stoking the flames, in actively encouraging the worst, most selfish impulses in your dearest allies?
The Emperor's unshakeable reign is hardly the best outcome for Fearun, but kicking back, nestled between the toes of the most powerful being to walk the Material Plane, could anyone really say that this isn't the best outcome for a shameless little toadie like Markus?

He was kind enough to fulfill my wish of seeing more Emperor from Baldur's Gate - large and in charge, as he should be. Ahhh... Gods above... How I yearn to be the toy of this gorgeous all-powerful being...
