Alternate 2
A pathfinder character concept I've been ruminating on for a while now. He's an unnamed Rogue/Wizard/Arcane Trickster that's been slowly forming out of the haze. Maybe he'll get a name if I ever actually play him. He focuses on Illusion and Necromancy magic as he pursues hidden and forbidden knowledge, and to explore the mysteries of magic.
An orphan that was raised in an exploitative temple-funded orphanage/work house set him on his path early, as he quickly learned the value of passing unnoticed, how to perform under a guise of charm, and how to hit someone where they wont get back up easily. Whether his thirst for knowledge came naturally as a result of his kitsune curiosity, or resulted from observing priests wielding power through their restricted knowledge of the divine and arcane is hard to say.
Ironically, his skills to pass unnoticed drew attention to him early on, and he was quickly coerced into the employment of a local wealthy and corrupt statesman. Or perhaps it was the exotic fox with dark fur unusual to these lands that drew the mans attention. This politician sought to manipulate and train the young kitsune to be used as a personal assassin, always close at hand, often masquerading as paramour or courtesan. This also permitted the young rogue the ability to rub elbows with local elites, as well as provided limited access to the arcane. This, of course, was not nearly enough.
