I’ll have to do a diagram/another piece with them. They don’t have the traditional placement of a single blowhole. Alien shenanigans

They are genetically engineered to have higher intelligence and can speak some rudimentary vocal language. The helm is naturally occurring growing from the skull but the stones are added for underwater communication. Vibrations make them light up.
