Haven't really drawn seriously since I was in high school back in 2012, but I wanted to sketch out a bit of Tillie’s deeper psyche.
Even though she’s doing much better these days, when she has no one to cuddle with and her bed is empty because Ty is still at the office and Alyssa is downstairs editing on the PC, Tillie still deals with these recurring, hyper vivid nightmares. Without fail, they always feature a younger Tillie and take place in locations which are supposed to be happy. Daycares, indoor/outdoor playgrounds, and those bright, hollow birthday venues from the mid 2000s.
For Tillie, the smell of stale cheap pizza and the sound of distant, distorted arcade music being drowned out by the hum of fluorescent lights isn't nostalgic; it’s a trigger. She gets physically ill just thinking too hard about these places. There’s a hollow, sinking feeling in her chest which suggests something important was left behind in a ball pit or perhaps a part of her was stolen in brightly colored hallway. Maybe , just maybe, it’s where some of her lost childhood memories are still hiding, too scared of the monsters roaming the floors to come out.
However, Lyss of course, even in her dream form, is handling the "glitch in reality" with her usual chaotic energy, but Tillie is just trying to make it out without losing her mind.
