“Whaddaya mean 'no'?” Raja scowled as she guided along a shopping cart.
Making himself comfortable within the child seat of said shopping cart, his stumpy little legs dangling out from the holes between the steel wire, Jirachi gently slapped his hands against the cart's handle. “It means what it means. No.”
Lips pursed, and scaly brows sliding over her eyes, the Arbok glared at her oh so stubborn shoulder angel as she slithered inside the entrance to their local Poke Mart.
“Raja,” bitterly sighed the Wish Pokemon. “Just because I can conjure up ingredients, if not luxurious feasts, for you and Roy at a moment's notice doesn't mean I should.”
“We'll agree to disagree,” groused the purple Poison Type.
With a clap of his hands, Jirachi summoned forth a shopping list from the ether. “Pout all you want but this is for your own good.”
Eyes nearly squinted shut, Raja dismissively flicked her forked tongue.
“I'm serious!” Jirachi implored. “The tedium, the chores, and the innumerable inconveniences that color life... it keeps you grounded.”
“No it doesn't! It just annoys me!” snipped the Arbok as she undulated past the Berry and Apricorn filled stands that all but overflowed the Produce section. “And everyone else for that matter!”
“Even so!” the Psychic and Steel Type asserted. Reaching forward, Jirachi gently papped at Raja's knuckles. “It provides you with a shared experience, a shared understanding, of what it means to be mortal! Knowing, in your very bones, what everyone else is going through keeps you empathetic. It keeps you kind!”
Cheeks puffed out, Raja flared her scaly nostrils.
Undaunted, the Wish Pokemon continued to lecture her. “Raja, I've lived amongst the Legendaries long enough to realize that when you remove all the friction from your life... it changes you. You forget about all the little ways life can push back on you. You forget all about the little kindnesses and courtesies that were extended to you, and that you in turn extended to others, to make it all the more bearable. When you're no longer subject to the whims of fate, when your station and status and life makes it so that you always get what you want when you want, you-”
“I get it, I get itttttttttttt,” the Arbok whined as she turned the corner into the Poffin aisle.
Jirachi fidgeted in place. “I just. It's just. I don't want to see you-”
Plapping a hand atop the pint-sized Pokemon's headdress, Raja roughly albeit affectionately tussled it. “Turn into yet another entitled asshole?” asked the Arbok.
“...Yeah.”
Flashing a toothy smirk, Raja plucked the shopping list free from Jirachi's grip. “Well with you around that won't be a problem now. Will it?”
“Raja...”
“What?” sassed the aisle filling Arbok. “You know I wouldn't have kept you around to be my conscience if you weren't damn good at it!”
Hands cupped to his cheeks, and tears beading along his eyes, the Wish Pokemon shyly sniffled.
“Those better be Fake Tears,” Raja mumbled under her breath with a blush.
