Cucumbers
Salt
Water
Spices
1. If there is a stem attached to the cucumbers, cut it off and then wash the cucumbers. You can cut them into spears or chips at this point.
2. Put them in a jar, then add water to cover all cucumbers. Add one teaspoon of salt per cup of water. You can then add a quarter teaspoon of dill, mustard, black pepper, coriander, allspice, red chili flakes, bay leaves, anise, cardamom, celery seeds, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, fennel, juniper, or other spices.
3. Close the air-tight jar and make sure to depressurize it every few days. It will be ready in about a week.

That's a nice selection of spices. Going to have lots of flavor there!
Wish I had grandma's recipe for "bread and butter" pickles. She always had a big stoneware crock in the basement with a batch of them in process. Young Vrghr wasn't as much a fan of her dill version (though the adults loved them!), but always looked forward to getting some of those sweet bread and butter types when we visited.
