There are so many details on this suit to show off, so I have to submit two different collages! xD Keep in mind this was made for someone who is sized differently, and does not fit me perfectly!
The raptor suit was finished up this morning in the wee hours, and today she'll be shipped off to her new owner in TN to be debuted at Dragon Con 2011. So if you're going to that convention, keep an eye out for this Clever Girl. ;D
Head Features:
-Moving Jaw (Mechanics are a secret, please don't ask.)
-Fully sculpted head made of resin and rigid foam for extreme lightness. (Custom mold made)
-Tongue made of flexi foam (custom mold made)
-Teeth are attached to head mold so also made of plastic and extremely light
-Vision ports in the neck so wearer can see very well, while it being somewhat camouflaged.
-Head has 2 fans installed for optimal airflow
-Resin cast eyes handpainted (Custom mold made)
-Airbrushing over the entirety of the head.
-Mouth "flaps" for realism
-Zipper in the back for easy in and out
-Magnets on neck flap to corresponding magnets on suit to hold it down.
Body Features:
-6FT long tail with a foam core that moves in an extremely realistic manner
-Reticulated foam used for a good portion of the foam work for excellent airflow and lightness
-Various degrees of upholstery foam used for the rest
-Fingers are individually carved out and can be moved separately by your own fingers
-Toes are attached to shoes for extreme comfort
-Claws are all made out of plastic, slush cast for lightness (Custom molds made)
-Zipper down the front for easy access in and out
-Fully lined with athletic mesh
-Fully airbrushed
-4 belt loop attachment for the tail to keep it upright and steady
-Velcro and snaps used to keep feet on
All in all the suit only weight 18 lbs, which is really nice, considering what it is. The length is about 6ft, and it's about as tall, so it's a pretty impressive costume. This suit was meant to resemble the raptors in Jurassic Park 1, so no feathers.

Ah. Definitely too-slow a reaction-time with a creature that moves as fast that thing did. *shudders at the thought of those heavy slug hitting anything fleshy* I've seen those tested on things like watermelons and pig-carcasses. Yoiks. O___O Thank you, Mythbusters for scaring the crud outta me, knowing the riot-police might be carrying those things to any protest I might be at... O______O
Those can fucking kill you, too, if they hit you in the right place, like the throat. LOL I certainly wouldn't want to get hit by one of those, in any case. Heck, I think I'd rather be tased, though I understand that hurts like a sonofa--.
Oh, and back in the Seventies, the National Guard didn't use rubber bullets at the Kent State anti-war protest and ended up killing thirteen young folk. Considering how crazy U.S politics seems to be getting to my eye, you never know if they might go back to that sort of thing. I doubt it will, buuut... And I've faced riot police when I went to a protest just this year. It was... scary. No one actually did anything, as our intentions were entirely peaceful and the cops were actually really polite and very cool with the whole thing, but it was obvious they didn't want to be there at all, thinking they had much more crucial things to be doing than guarding a bunch of super-rich guys at some posh resort. (We were at a rally protesting some of the things the Koch brothers were funding, like the Tea Party.)

this was actually a commission; she's already been shipped off to her new owner who is going to be taking her to dragon con. The owner isn't a furry so I doubt she'll attend any actual furcons.

I sell head blanks for $250 plus shipping but you'd have to finish them and they don't come with tongues or eyes; those are purchased separately.

wow, this is absolutely amazing. raptors are my favourite dinosaur ;D
but after watching the video, i was amazed at how realistic it looked and moved. the way the tail and mouth were made truly set the scene for this suit. it's outstanding.
