Gaze Into The Abyss And The Abyss Gazes Back
"Battle not with monsters lest ye become a monster. And if you gaze into the abyss, the abyss gazes into you."
-Friedrich Nietzsche
Oh, Clarice, people will say we're in love.
More Hannibal!Cerby and Clarice!Wielder stuff. I wanted to work on some digital art practice, and I figured cerberusderozier's brindle amstaff terrier would provide a challenge...and he did. He indeed did. Hopefully I didn't mess up the brindling too badly. That, and, thanks to artaith-21, there's a CERTAIN SONG that I can't get out of my head that demands Silence of the Lambs art.
Anywho, I always liked the dynamic between Clarice and Hannibal, and I was actually pretty glad they ended up together in Hannibal (the novel, not the film). They had great chemistry, great push and pull, and the dark sort of tension between them was oddly alluring. So, here's a symbolic sort of piece with them essentially bound together but holding symbols of what they are in their other hands (Hannibal holds his mask, Clarice holds her FBI badge). Light source is sort of in between them...sort of a "shedding light on the subject" sort of thing for both of them.
Hannibal!Cerby belongs to cerberusderozier, and I hope she doesn't mind me using her wonderful character as a guinea pig!
Wielder (in all her various forms and roles) belongs to me.
Original characters belong to Thomas Harris.

cerberusderozier's characterization of Hannibal Lecter is ferociously wicked: his facial coloration and his breed seem to work perfectly, and your addition of that look toward Wielder is just...spooky.
I'll stop my analysis here, because I'm getting a SERIOUS case of the heebie-jeebies.

Ok, I've had TSO on my mind for the past week, and now I must link this:

Weilder.....I have to tell you, I am fangirling over these SO HARD.
I would rent these movies every other weekend when I went to my dad's house, and every time the movies would be on HBO I would ALWAYS watch them. @_@ I've had a huge old-man-crush on Hannibal since I was practically in grade school. <3
These two fit that role SO DAMN WELL. EEEEE. Weilder just looks so sexy and strong, so unwillingly smitten, and Cerby looks SO dappa and handsome....hhhh. And the overal quality of this is just awesome. Then again all of your work is that high grade. ;D

Lol, sorry for being so late in getting to this comment, Koofins. Life has been crazy as shit.
I'm so glad that you like this SOTL stuff, and I'm glad to know that a few others share my old man crush on our favorite serial killer.
Thanks so much for the wonderful comment, girl!

Now you're just spoiling me!
Honestly, I am absolutely delighted you've been having so much fun with this theme, and do not mind in the slightest being your guinea pig. Brindle is by no means an easy coat pattern to capture (I am incurably lazy I have a brush for it, otherwise Cerby would probably just end up being brown and white, and where is the fun in that) and you manage it beautifully, both digitally AND traditionally! I really appreciate the effort.
I love their faces - LOVE them! And that goes just as strongly for the sketches you made the other day as well (I don't think I remarked on those amazing "hybridised" (?) faces when I should have, but they are wonderful).
Thank you so much, Wielder. These are magnificent, and I feel very lucky and incredibly special to be treated to these.

Pfffft, you deserve to be spoiled. Your pieces light up my inbox when you submit something.
I'm so glad you like this piece. Cerby just makes the perfect Hannibal, and he's too fun not to draw. I love the tension that I can play with in this pairing too. As fun as the mushy/girlie pictures are that I've been doing, there's a different dynamic in this pairing, and it's really fun to depict. I DO have to try my hand at your Clarice sometime in the not too distant future though.
And you are welcome! We're all lucky you share your visions with the rest of us!

Very cool. I still want to read that novel. I've seen the two movies— Though I've yet to see Hannibal Rising or Red Dragon, and it's been years since seeing Manhunter, but Hannibal is still one of my favorite fictional psychos. I like this piece just for the awesome factor. I dunno what breed Cerby is, but that dark patch on the right side of his head just makes this work somehow. ...Don't ask me why. It just does. Cool stuff.
Im absolutely in love with Cerby-Hannibal. So, so handsome. I really like his natural ears, while I prefer cropped ears the natural ones are just so cute FFFFFffffffff <3 Kinda makes me want to draw younger Korso again just for the ears.
There's really something wrong with my inbox because I keep missing pieces like this! Its not the first time, it has happened a lot of times when some drawings just wont show up in my inbox. If this wouldnt have been in my friends faves I might have never seen this! :(
I dig the subtle symbolism you used here, its effective but nothing in-your-face.
Her feet fluff! <333

Oh, I love Cerby!Hannibal too. She did such a wonderful job on all of her Hannibal work, and you can really tell that she did all of it with the utmost respect for the characters.
And dawwww, you must draw younger Korso again! Not that older Korso isn't hot as hell, but younger Korso made me want to play wiff himz eurrrrz and muzzle. You did a really good job of capturing the age difference while using his breed to depict that at the same time.
And, yeah, FA tends to eat submissions, comments, and notes for me too. I feel your pain.

I too appreciate the fact that Lecter and Starling got together in the novel. They both had too much chemistry for them not to.
I love you doggie representation of Hannibal, you succesfully got his human features to show through as well.
I've always liked Anthony Hopkins as an actor and the film Hannibal as a character particullarly because he looks a lot like my dad xD

Lol, now I don't feel so sick for being happy that they ended up together. I'm not such a weirdo after all!
Cerby did a really really good job of translating her character into Hannibal Lecter. I couldn't help myself. Wielder had to play too lol.
Hopkins is a wonderful actor. I don't think anyone could have pulled Lecter off better.

ah Hannibal. One of the first characters I ever saw on film that was expertly played and so damn alluring. The fact that he didn't even have to try and be threatining and could easily talk about eating a part of somebody like it was a casual conversation showed that Anthony Hopkins was (and still is) the man.
I'll admit you make a very cute Clarice and I like how the two personalities are depicted here. The dark yet calm Hannibal depecited with the steady yet somewhat reluctant Clarice all the while handcuffed together providing some sort of balance.
As usual great job
