I think I uploaded this to Twitter quite some time ago -- my idea for a turtle-like alien species, the Gorak'ron, part of the "ET Iguana" universe. Maybe one day I should revisit this sketch, and change the pose and body, as well as give it some armor and gear to better showcase my idea.
As a race, they are somewhat taller than the Vlatorrans (who are already a bit taller than humans), and have a hard shell to protect their backs. Their society is based on might, with place strength and cunning as their most desirable traits. Both males and females are muscular and strong, with very little to differentiate them to the untrained eye.
Despite their violent tendencies, they were loyal to the Vlatorrans after the latter rescued the survivors of one of their ships after it suffered a catastrophic failure. That is, until the humans destroyed the Vlatorran homeworld, and with it more than half of the species. The Gorak'ron now round up any Vlatorrans they can find and bring them to their territory, with the Vlatorrans serving the Gorak'ron as slaves. This, however, has not been able to be verified as the Gorak'ron do not have diplomatic relationship with the humans, and have made it very clear they have no desire to do so. They have threatened to destroy any who intrude in their star systems, and the humans seem quite eager to avoid another costly war.

I've thought about this for at least 10 years and seen plenty of renditions of turtle anthros.
And I've ultimately come to the conclusion that the concept of a turtle anthro could only work under two conditions:
1. If the both the plastron and carapace don't extend below the waistline.
2. The turtle anthro has only the shell carapace and no plastron.
Because if your torso and abdomen are rigid which is the exact same restriction that a real turtle has, then that's going to significantly reduce your body movement because you can't even bend your waist.
And that made me realize that the TMNT are not very realistic in terms of body movement.

I imagine a creature of that size would have no need for a hard shell; it's big enough that it would be able to fight anything that tried to kill it. I imagine the back as more of a rather thick and hard skin, similar to that of the krogans from Mass Effect. And nothing on the front; gotta be able to show some nice pecs and abs somehow.
