COMIC: Unsmarted by a banana brain
🟢 "Original character art."
🟢The bounty hunter lair bar was loud in the way only outcasts could manage clinking glasses, bad jokes, scarred laughter, and the low hum of old generators keeping the neon signs alive. Smoke curled through the air like lazy ghosts.
Felix, the mutant anthropomorphic fox, sat proudly at the counter, his fluffy tail flicking with confidence. On either side of him were two cute anthropomorphic mutant girls, leaning close as they giggled and gasped at his stories.
“And then,” Felix said dramatically, raising his glass, “I jumped off the crawler while it was exploding—no parachute, no backup just pure instinct.”
The girls burst into laughter, clearly eating it up.
Suddenly, WHAM!
A massive gorilla hand slammed down and grabbed Felix by the collar, lifting him clean off the barstool. The entire bar fell silent.
Felix froze, ears flattened.
The owner of the hand was a towering, gorilla with eyes full of rage. He leaned in close, breath hot and heavy.
“You.” The gorilla growled. “Is this the one son, who sold you the device?”
Beside him stood a smaller, younger gorilla thin, nervous, glasses slightly crooked on his face. He squinted at Felix… then pointed.
“Yes, dad,” the son said. “That’s him.”
Felix swallowed.
On the floor, Humphy Felix’s pet mutant grasshopper leapt forward, growling fiercely, his wings buzzing in warning as he placed himself between Felix and the giant gorilla.
The gorilla turned his head and roared.
Humphy yelped, legs shaking, and bolted straight out of the bar, crashing through the swinging doors in panic.
Outside, Humphy skidded to a stop and spotted a human bounty hunter walking toward the bar tall, armored, calm eyed.
Baskal.
Humphy barked and chirped wildly, tugging at Baskal’s boot, pointing back toward the bar with frantic gestures.
“…Felix?” Baskal muttered.
He followed.
Inside, Baskal immediately saw the problem: Felix dangling helplessly in the gorilla’s grip.
“What’s going on here?” Baskal asked, hand resting near his weapon.
The gorilla snorted. “Your friend sold my son a busted entertainment device. Claimed it was ‘top tier tech.’ Fraud. Total junk.”
The geeky son nodded angrily. “Didn’t even boot!”
Baskal slowly turned his head toward Felix.
“…You idiot.”
Felix gave an awkward smile. “It was mostly working when I sold it?”
Baskal clenched his jaw. “Give them a refund. Now.”
Felix winced. “I… uh… already spent it.”
The gorilla’s eyes darkened.
“Then I’ll take your tail,” he said calmly. “As a trophy.”
Felix yelped.
Baskal stepped forward. “Wait!!.”
The gorilla paused.
“Give him one more chance,” Baskal said. “We’ll bring your son something better. Real tech.”
The gorilla crossed his arms. “From where?”
“Abandoned tech stores,” Baskal replied. “Fallen City.”
The bar murmured nervously.
The gorilla looked down at his son. “What do you think?”
The young gorilla adjusted his glasses, thinking hard… then smiled.
“Okay. But I’m coming with you. I choose what I want.”
The gorilla leaned down close to Baskal, voice low and dangerous.
“If anything happens to my son… this becomes a serious problem.”
Baskal nodded. “I’ll protect him.”
Back in Hope Town, Felix’s twin sister, Sawsan, lay sick in bed. She was mute unable to speak—but sharp-eyed and expressive. Hector-09, the tall service robot, was away helping Big Mama, the advisor of Hope Town, with major reconstruction projects.
Baskal’s radio crackled.
“Taking a job with Felix,” Baskal said. “Heading into Fallen City.”
Sawsan heard it.
She sat up slowly, walked to the window, and saw Felix and Baskal preparing their vehicle with the young gorilla client. Her heart sank. She wanted to go she always did.
The nurse robot immediately blocked her path, gently but firmly.
“Patient condition unstable. Adventure denied.”
Sawsan scowled and signed angrily.
The nurse contacted Big Mama, who spoke softly through the monitor.
“Rest, Sawsan. You’ll have plenty of adventures once you’re back on your feet.”
Reluctantly, Sawsan returned to bed.
She liked hanging out with Baskal. She liked the danger. The movement. The life.
Outside, she opened the window one last time.
Felix looked up from the driver’s seat.
Their eyes met.
Sawsan made a sharp, angry sign: Don’t. Do. Anything. Stupid.
Felix gave her a worried grin and a thumbs up.
“…I’m totally going to do something stupid,” he muttered.
The engine roared to life.
As the vehicle rolled toward the ruins of Fallen City, shattered towers loomed in the distance, their broken lights flickering like dying stars.
Baskal checked his weapons.
The young gorilla adjusted his backpack, eyes shining with excitement.
Felix swallowed nervously.
The treasure hunt had begun.
