As soon as Buzzz left, Sonic ran over to Shadow, who was sitting on a swing, gazing out at the sea with a somber expression.
"You know we're enemies in the story, right?" he asked as Sonic approached. "Why are you trying to force your company on me?"
"Because I know what you said about yourself!" Sonic exclaimed. "It's not true!"
"Really?" Shadow chuckled. "And what exactly is..."
Sonic looked down.
"Shadow... You've never been fake. It's me who's fake."
Shadow almost fell off the swing. He looked at his friend in alarm.
"Hey, are you serious right now? You're the one who's..."
"Fast? Cool?" Sonic asked. "Maybe, but add selfishness to that, please."
"You're not selfish!" Shadow protested.
"Am I not?" Sonic seemed eager to say something in support of his rival in games and TV shows. "I just show off my coolness in front of everyone, and I also fight with Emmi."
"I admit, she annoys me too," Shadow laughed. "But you're the good one, and I'm the bad one."
"We're not good or bad," Sonic shook his head. "We just do things one way or another."
"That's what I want to do," Shadow sighed. "It's all because of..."
"I know what you found," Sonic said softly, wrapping his arms around Shadow. "And I'm asking you... Use it on me when you need to."
"No!! I refuse!"
Shadow looked at Sonic pleadingly.

"I won't let myself kick you out of the show!"
With that, the black hedgehog ran away, leaving Sonic with the thought that he should talk to his friend again. Yes, he knew how much Shadow hated his comic book version, but they didn't have a choice.
