Henry had an inkling that the raptor he'd picked up was hardly an "outlaw." Luke was nothing but a half-starved desert rat—the sort of person you'd pay someone else to dump out in the wilderness, not get paid to bring him back in.
If that was true, then what Henry had just done was give the man who tried to rob him a free ride into town. He even made sure Luke was fed, just in case he fetched a higher bounty alive than dead. But even with free food and transportation, what kind of innocent person would put up with the indignity of it all?
As he neared Sheriff's Mac office, he now firmly suspected he was merely dropping his cargo in front of the one iguanodon he would never shoot a man in front of.
But what really nabbed his ire was the look on the rap's face. Oh sure, Luke squirmed and pleaded whenever Henry glanced over his shoulder at him, but as he looked away he caught a glimpse out of the corner of his eye of a dinosaur who seemed far too pleased with himself.
It was only much later on that Henry learned about Luke's... "proclivity" (and the saloon girls who tack it on to his evening for an extra fee). It turns out that underneath his mangy feathers he's no different from any man when he's been on his own for too long: he'll take whatever he can get, from whoever's giving it.
