I felt like I read somewhere that yinglets sleep in cuddle-piles, but no probably just the page #230 reference about sometimes resting in communal areas. Not hard to imagine a cuddle-pile forming though and this is after all exactly the kind of intimate night that Isher is looking for...
This applies to magic healers too. I had FUN with this detail while playing a healer. She was absolutely brutal in a spar because she could just... heal any damage afterwards. Reacted like it was totally fine when anyone else was seeing horrific lethal wounds. XD
It also opens up a weakness. They're reckless when they fight. Wounds don't matter to them. So what happens... when they lose access to that, for one reason or another? >:3

It occurs to me- someone with perpetual dagger thumb like her would probably have a keen interest in finding a Baxxid friendly Gripper Smith to get her some thumbclaw sheathes.
After how her efforts to get a date the other night went, I'm surprised she hasn't looked into finding a claw cozy or two.

"All night to heal!"
Night. Not even 12 hours likely.... And it's not even BLEEDING or stained the wrappings.
I know our boy in the hospital got lucky with a stab through an old stab wound but still... WHAT THE HECK ARE KASS'S FRIENDS MADE OF?!
I mean think about it. Yan basically went full on juggernaut. Our worm friend has bisected a man and taken said Juggernaut head on, our solider boy took a stab wound through the body and kept fighting at disadvantage in numbers, and now this.
Actually now that I think about it even Lopin has tanked a beating (lost a tooth that appears to be growing back) and beyond that is not that much worse for wear.
There's made of iron and then there's this.

Based on her cagey-ness, one can only assume that her true heritage is something that other people *would know about* and *have opinions on* but she really doesn't match any species I can think of that we've seen already. I know the comic only takes place in a small region of the world, but the city is a haven for multicultural exchanges, surely we would've at least heard of her people before? Perhaps there'll be a moment in the comic's future where we do encounter her people and learn a lot about them really fast
Aright so, these past few pages I'd slid away from the half-baxxid theory because shovel-shaped hands and head parts are common convergently evolved traits. But, you got me diving down the rabbit hole of arthropod wound healing mechanisms, and it turns out being half baxxid might actually explain the healing part better than anything.
Turns out that wounds on open circulatory systems (i.e. invertebrates) clot a lot better 'cause they're not just bleeding from blood vessels the way vertebrates do. The tissues still take a while to -fully- heal and they're a lot more vulnerable to infection than ours, which means in nature they die more often. But apparently if kept clean and bandaged, they do become semi-functional really quickly (I also learned that in 1977 someone invented teeny tiny bandages for bugs).
So even if Isher has mammal-like skin, an endoskeleton with a spine etc., if it were combined with a worm's open circulatory system and distributed peripheral nervous system, that might explain how the arm regained its functioning overnight.

I have two possible theories on her origin.
A: The non-human side of her lineage is attack on sight with humans, which is why none of them are seen in Valsalia and nobody knows what a half-breed would look like, in which case I think it's understandable why she'd be so cagey about it.
B: Her current state is the result of an artifact similar to the one that got Kassen, except it left her as a hybrid instead of completely transforming her. I think this one is more likely mainly because her non-human features are already so extreme even as a hybrid. Whatever the non-human side of her is, it doesn't look like it would be something naturally capable of crossbreeding with humans.

My theories are similar
A) Underground burrowing species. The shape of the claws and horn look like they'd be suited for digging. Would also explain the similarities to the baxxid, it's convergent evolution. But I kinda like yours better. Also possibly up the same alley a species believed to be 'non-sentient'.
B) Kal had made a subtle reference to beings being able to change gender and/or species; we've seen the baxxid change gender, and poooosssibly a 'species' like caste specialization akin to insects like ants and bees. But maybe it's a reference to Isher's species, the embarrassment would be from trying to be human and getting stuck halfway.

Ran could guess as soon as he saw her. Ran is a very well read person. My guess is that Ishar is from a very, very long way away, and she traveled all this distance because she wanted to find a place where her own kind were never seen.
So whatever she is, or partly is, we haven't met any yet.

A species I wrote for an rp setting was a bunch of big space lizards with a crazy healing factor (tied to an insane metabolism, so they were always hungry), it was aaalways fun to play around with
'What's that? The adventurer party killed a Ravir in a boss fight but left the body as they kept going through the dungeon? Well, the body's just *not there* any more when they get back. Oops! Now you've got an angry very hungry slasher villain who is also a lizard skulking about
I hope they keep Isher well-fed, she deserves it. Perhaps waffles.

That speech bubble hanging off the side is clever but also driving me nuts >,.<
But also, implications of the fact they're grouping up to go:
1) Kal must be showing up soon, maybe we get to see what Nell cooked up.
2) Those of us hoping Yannit is hiding out at Isher's house, gonna have to wait through an entire enclave arc to find out >,.<
Also, I'm kinda dubious about whether Isher's reallllly all better. It'd be quite a coincidence to heal so much yet still need bandages. And it's almost a cliche for the girl with bandages on her arm to say she's fine.

Not exactly wolverine or deadpool levels. Still a good healing factor there.
Fyi; both have revived from mere traces left, single cells really. In a predator crossover, wolverine revived from a few cells left over on his metal skeleton 'after' the predator processed it for his trophy wall.

So like is literally every other species just mechanically superior to yinglets in every way imaginable and in that case what can they even do about it beyond just hoping that they can evolve fast enough and a war doesn't break out against them in the mean time? Are yinglets secretly the only race that can use magic? Come on please give our boys something. I'm so worried about them.
right and they're going to be staying there a lot longer this time, I wonder if we'll learn about Isher's origins by virtue of her having to construct her own dwelling in the style of wherever-she's-from. 'Cause you know she's gonna -insist- on not troubling anyone for help. Also makes me wonder what the yinglets will make of not one but two people with giant shovel-like appendages, combine that with the yinglet talent for knowing just where to scavenge and I could see some treasure hunt shenanigans happening.
ok so what's this about cuttlefish, you and Twee-lil-Lass got me going down the rabbit-hole of invertebrate wound healing but apparently cephalopods have convergently evolved their own version of a closed circulatory system?
How did Isher get permission for the Enclave posting? Doesn't the House need her for Just Standing There, Menacingly duty when the next representatives of the Conan the Cimmerian Wannabes tribe show up to debate sheep skin prices?
Though, if violence is ever required of her at least Isher could take care of whatever Narklet's goons throw at her. Those spear wounds wouldn't do shit, probably even if they've been laced with shit, ya know? She's got the reach, she's got the tail sweep if they circle her, and Yinglets would just be intimidated having to look up, up, up UP at her.
Provided she can bypass her gentle nature long enough to guard Kass's body.

The way I see it, both jobs fall under the category of diplomatic honour guard, so the best candidates are being picked for the most important detail. Also, that gentle nature is exactly why Isher's perfect for this type of work. It may have saved Kass from being killed or worse, but Elim pursued and engaged non-designated hostiles after being ordered to withdraw. That's the kind of thing that starts wars on a diplomatic detail. Isher and Kal demonstrated that they have the temperament to try and de-escalate while staying purely defensive.

If Isher has totes awsum regen skillz...WHY IS HER HORN SCAR STILL VISIBLE?
Does she damage it herself ona daily basis or its just her soft tissues that get regen powers? Does pure blood Isher race actually have bone regeneration and thus thats why they cosndider her "inferior"?
Ok, I think I made all the spoilery questions I needed to do.

Ooh that makes me think about the added significance, for someone who's used to even deep wounds healing in days. It's like a metaphor for all her scars being emotional. Definitely would not be surprised though if she tried to cut her own horn off Hellboy style... The poetic thing would be for Kass to have been the one to stop her partway through.
I noticed a couple of days ago that I seemed to have missed this one. Oops!
Hoi, OOPs pals! I'm here to remind you once again that there's a place called "Top Web Comics" https://www.topwebcomics.com/?home=3 that compiles comics from various places. There's a bunch of cool stuff there. They have monthly votes, so you can support OOPs there. You can vote once a day per device, so your PC, laptop, tablet, phone, etc.
I've noticed that you can sometimes even get in extra votes from different IP addresses, or if you're disconnected from your IP and open up again later.
It closed out January at 782 votes and 42nd place. It's currently at 395 votes and 30th place. The highest it's reached is 24th place, and the top vote getters seem to end up with something over 20,000+ votes, at least recently.
Vote early, vote often! Help OOPs get noticed!

Yeah, he posted this one soon after the previous one.
You know, when I vote, it takes me to a “are you human” page (which apparently didn’t work with that vote stuffing thing we had last year). You identify the character from a webcomic, and when it thanks you for voting it tells you about the webcomic and gives a link. But they never do that for OOPs

Back in the pre-internet days that used to be called a "push survey", they come up with a legitimate sounding reason like "help us do science" or "help me win a prize" that makes people want to interact, and then work paid advertising into the questions. Marketing companies used to do it by phone, or sometimes at the mall.
