MORE PONIES!
I was watching "The Fuma Conspiracy" and "Castle of Cagliostro" this week, and this occurred to me. Love them pony mashups...
The hardest thing about this particular mashup was deciding whether to go with Lupin's hairdo or Pinkie's. They're almost complete opposites...
Also, my first Ditzy Doo! Derp!

Aw, don't shoot yourself. Turn that frown 90º!
Just go get yourself about a half gallon/gallon size bucket of cake frosting (any flavor you like), eat it, and then wear the container as a hat. Bonus points if you glue macaroni & glitter to it.
It'll put you in the proper mindset to understand and appreciate the tao of the pony.

Hmm, I dunno.
If you turned the frown on the z axis it would become either side of a parenthesis, and you'd need to find someone to be the other side making the opposite expression and then someone to stand between you and make a (parenthetical) statement.
A frown turned 90º on the y axis would be a short vertical line, which would necessitate breathing through your nose so make sure any allergies are taken care of before attempting it.
Turning a frown on the x axis will give you a thin, straight line, which I guess is frownish but veering toward neutral, which is still an improvement.
If not cake frosting any other condiment will suffice. Cream cheese is a good substitute, especially on baked goods.
Finally, remember that being a smart ass is not to far off from being a smart pony, if Carl Linnaeus is to be believed. Francis the talking mule was consulted but declined to comment.

Seems there's a fair number of opinions on just that question across the breadth of MLP fandom. There's nothing solidly confirmed by Hasbro/The Hub, we'll just have to wait 'til the new season hits.
My gut instinct is that Derpy will remain a fan name, perhaps with some references slipped into the show as a nod to the Bronies, and that the grey pegasus with the googly eyes will be referred to on the show as Ditzy Doo. I think the name is just a little more "gettable" by a more general audience not steeped in internet lingo. Conservation of detail/characters would suggest that too. No need to have two "featherbrained" pegasi in Ponyville.
We'll see tho, starting in a fortnight.
