I decided to post just the cloud layers from that pic I submitted to
thecrypto contest. Of course I came in last. *shrug* But I like the clouds though. I was hoping someone might put the background to better use than I did. If anyone want to use it, message me and we'll see if it's serviceable. I can send a high quality version of the file. Just don't forget to give me credit and all that.

I thought so too. One of the extremely rare times when something came out better than I expected. I often look at the clouds going to and from work and is still stunned how close they look to my picture. Now if I can replicate the results.
It was surprisingly easy to make. I started with some white splotches using various brushes in PhotoShop. Then use some smudge brushes followed by a darken and lighten layer, with more smudging. I keep playing with it till it looks decent enough.
I'm also generally happy with my lightning backgrounds (I may post some of the lightning parts later). While not as realistic as my clouds, I still like them. Maybe with enough practice, they'll look real.
