It's a new year, so time for an update! Or rather, I asked  Hydez to draw a new reference for Volt after the year started.
Trying to both streamline and experiment with this reference. You'll notice kept it to just one monkey form. I still want to do stuff with a more humanoid Volt but wanted to reduce confusion on the ref.
The main thing was giving Volt a more friendly, outgoing vibe. I haven't been too strict about it, but Volt is supposed to be a goofball, and prone to being manic. But he's also really encouraging and earnest. Qualities that I want to have and to work towards.
Smaller things I wanted to get was making his hair a bit fuzzier, fixing his side burns to show they are indeed growing from his face like a monkey would have rather than hanging down, and making the plume of his ponytail a more consistent size. Hydez had kind of been growing that bigger and bigger until it framed Volt's whole head. Also the ears should be slightly bigger than human ears now.

On the experimental side, outfits. Apart from making sure the default outfit is the tank top and shorts, kept the Winter and Beach outfits which i think work really well. And trying a bunch more outfits that may need further revision down the line. The big one I was fretting over was the Formal outfit. It's a mash up of a ton of stuff although I know for certain I wanted spats and a coat with tails. The pride handkerchief was a Hydez touch so we'll see if that gets kept. The Party outfit is from Hydez's big group YCH he did last year of a club scene. Very Toxtricity inspired so I think it works well. The Wukong outfit is another take at something monkey king inspired. I let Hydez have free rein on this one since the last Wukong outfit didn't see much use. I don't expect it'll get more use this time but it's a bit of fun. And lastly the Jungle outfit. Now Volt is more of a city monkey but I do really like the kind of crafted, wildman look so went with something simple for any alternate universes where Volt lives up in the trees.
