During a forest hike with friends, you stumble before a beautiful so-called 'fairy ring' and your friends don't fail to mention all the folklore surrounding such striking mushroom circles.
The telling of tales quickly turns into a dare: in spite of all the bad luck and ludicrous omens foretold by myth and legends, you offer to jump right into the very center of the fairy ring... a test of courage for superstitious people and nothing more, you say in your mind.
However, it all goes awry from the moment you do the jump: as soon as you touch the ground again, you feel like a zap through your body... you're quick to dismiss it as an occasional and innocuous electrostatic shock at first, only to then notice you're friends are no longer there with you!
“Ha-ha, nice prank... come out now!” you shout, but it seems your friends are just... gone, nowhere near to answer your calls.
Frantically turning around and scanning the trees for hiding spots, you realize the forest looks strange, although you can't quite put it into words how; it looks samey, yet it feels off. A sense of 'uncanny valley' hits you, and you no longer feel daring...
“I'll come out... but this is no prank, mind you” suddenly says a melodious but stern voice.
You turn again to face the voice, and your jaw drops at the sight of the mythical beauty now before you: an actual fairy!
You start regretting that dare as her purple eyes lock onto yours and she approaches you with silent steps, as though her bare feet merely grazed the grass instead of setting her weight on it... Her elegant and sensual outfit glistens with each step, her colorful, paper-thin wings flutter almost imperceptibly so with each breath, yet causing her long and flowing purple hair to undulate behind her. The tiara of gold and flowers resting on her head and adorning the horn on her forehead tells you she probably has both the power and authority to mess with you, if she wishes so! Hopefully she's one of the good fairies...
She then raises a hand and a pretty little bird flies to her, setting on her fingers without fear.
“A little bird told me you were trespassing into the Feywild...” she began saying, briefly interrupted by the bird's chirping.
“...and that, even worse, you don't believe in Fairies, nor their magic. Well... what do you have to say now, uhm~?”
...and this marks the beginning of FAEbruary~! More fairy posting coming this month, eheh!
Btw this is the fae AU of my OC Lorena, which you might remember already seeing as a sailfish mermaid queen first, and as a unicorn/centauress too!
