Just something that does bug me about a lot of horror movies is, it typically something ancient and "from the Holy land" that taken over something. Some times it works, like the Mangler, but lots of times it is treated as "ooooo, it's spooky because it is biblical but the serial numbers are filed off, be afraid" and a part of a string of events that feel like a setting for prequels than just something having a bad history.

Some times, a thing is just haunted because a bad event.
