An extra cute piece to make up for how poor the last one came out for Sass, having her flaunt her prized "ThermoLace" cooling garment, which I've taken the opportunity to redesign quite abit since its first appearance, alongside just being a fun mix up from her plain garments (although this can fit under them just fine. Generally she wouln't be wearing something like this at port or on station, but when on the float its something she commonly equips under her usual wear as a bottom most layer. As can be seen with the sock even going over it :P
(These pieces are essentially forming their own little "felt cute, might delete later" subsection at this rate lol)
There's a surprising notable bit of lore around this thing, the SEAL Spaceworks "M-3 ThermoLace" is a Modular Thermal Circulation Layer, SEAL makes a wide variety of products, from equipment such as this, tools, to robotics alongside their main role as a void works construction company, especially since the secession. But thats too much preface. Thermal undergarments like this are a key component of EVA gear, much like real life in cooling their users.
These fancier models however have taken on usage much more frequently outside of suits, with miniaturized auxiliary units being worked into the garments allowing them to optionally uplink with an EVA suit heatsink/heater instead of relying on one entirely. While their independent capabilities are far more limited, the cooling capacity is still nothing to scoff at, allowing a user to stay pleasantly chilled in heated environs. They're loved for usage in usually very stuffy and poorly ventilated areas in vessel and station maintenance underbellies. Or in cases like Sass' where a minimal skeleton crew for a ship means switching to EVA responsibilities much quicker and unexpectedly, so having the undergarment already on is a handy convenience to quicken the gearing process.
Sass’ M-3 ThermoLace is bespoke. As a Teshari, she falls outside the human-centric design assumptions SEAL Spaceworks typically works under, unsurprising given the relatively recent nature of interspecies contact. Her robotic leg adds further complications.
The suit’s modular architecture allows the absent limb to be omitted entirely from the loop while maintaining thermal balance, and enables adaptation to non-standard physiologies once a new garment layout is drafted. This limited production run was intended to validate that flexibility. The pumps and power systems were only lightly reconfigured to match the altered routing with minimal redesign.
While these alterations remain costly, Sass’ unit was subsidized through a diplomatic workforce integration program. Custom EVA equipment remains significantly expensive, making it and her actual suit (yet to be depicted) cherished possessions from her time with the company.
Mind you my setting follows "carbon lore" as opposed to the usual Avali lore, so these suits aren't really fit for something as extreme as equalizing the temperature differentials seen there. But given the general avian nature of Teshari and their resulting lack of sweating, the cooling capacity the suit provides makes it a much more appealing casual wear than usual for humans :3
But yeah back on the drawing side, definitely trying to be more cutesy with the extra dynamic pose than usual and I am happy with the results despite the short comings like the wings still, shading remains my least favorite part, especially after failing in to work in a bump for the enzyme implant shown in other pieces. But the rest I am reasonably pleased with compared to my usual stiffness. The resolution here is also alot higher than usual for me which turned out well. I also re-introduced colored lines for this piece which I haven't done in ages. . . And I think the results are neat :D
