Krunch is a Kremling and current leader of the Kremlings who is one of Diddy Kong's friends and the second-in-command of the New Rareware Gang. He is the teenage son of Krusha and Kressida, younger twin brother of Klutch, stepson of Klamble and older stepbrother of Klampon and Klaptrap. Krunch is also married to Princess Marina, making him the son-in-law of the Mer-King and Mer-Queen and the brother-in-law of Regatta, Aquaria, Tida, Submara and Corolla.

From a very young age, Krunch was forced to work under King K. Rool's cruel and selfish rule, K. Rool's abuse and torture has left him forever traumatized. By the time Krunch started joining the good side, he took it into his own claws to dethrone and kill K. Rool, and upon doing so, he steps up as the new leader of the Kremlings, treating them with the respect and kindness that K. Rool never gave any of them.

Krunch has a strong affinity for rock music, heavy metal, and racing. Despite him being the heaviest of the racers, he has fast speed that everyone is shocked of. He also has the ability to switch between a Kremling and a Sea Kremling. Overall, Krunch is a natural being with a tough past left behind and a bright future straight ahead.
