What’s cooler than a dragon? Only a gargantuan dragon!
Here is a bit of background that might shed light on my obsession with Ray. Let’s travel back to the distant past—to a time when I was still in kindergarten and didn't even know the word "dragon." I vividly remember being taken to a museum where I saw a T-Rex skeleton for the first time. Looking at those bones, I was awestruck by its majesty. It was so massive you could practically break your neck just trying to look up at its skull. I was baffled: how could such a colossal creature have ever existed?
I also remember watching "Alien," "Predator," and other creature features. Their anatomy and shapes fascinated my young mind. I didn't realize then that my preference for exotic forms was being forged in those moments. The climax of my interests came in 1998, with "Godzilla." At first, I didn't get it, but then... IT CLICKED. Seeing that giant lizard whose footfalls shook the earth and whose roar shattered glass shocked my childhood senses in the best way possible. That day, I knew: I loved things that were huge, terrifying, powerful, and exotic.
Fast forward to today. I believe Ray’s character conquered my heart not just through his exotic anatomy, but through his sheer scale. When I first saw art of him back in 2013-2014, I was likely as mesmerized as I was by Godzilla as a child. While building this 3D model, I drew strength and inspiration from those childhood memories. It kept me focused, disciplined, and motivated.
The result stands before us: a dragon whose single claw is as long as a grown man is tall (182 cm). Looking at Ray next to a basic human model gives me chills; my blood runs cold. If I were brave enough, I’d risk meeting his predatory gaze just to greet him. And if I weren't instantly disintegrated by his stare, I’d want to touch him. I don't quite know why—just to feel that proximity, to test my nerves, to put my life at risk just to lay a hand on his scales. To embrace that strange feeling of being small and defenseless next to something vast and dangerous.
All these thoughts and desires likely stem from my childhood. Sometimes it scares me; I wonder if I’m the only one who feels this way. Maybe I’m just a madman destined for a psychiatric ward. But even there, I will still love dragons and admire their magnificent scale.

Ahhhhh (un)holy shit i fucking loveeee to see your 3D works man!! 8D
I love Ray, hes one of my fav dragons around, and when i saw that you were also making a model of him i got so excited! He looks awesome, beautiful and imposing, as i also love dragons to be! The way you tell me yours story, is much like me too...And probably like a lot of other people here too! I think dragons are the most fascinating fantasy creatures to be..They can be so widely variated and each individual so unique! Sadly if we take realistic biology and physics such a huge and flying animal could not exist like this but i dont think full realism should be a limit for our imagination either, so its all good! Besides, i love seeing some big behemoth like dragons too! Who does not right?
The details and textures of the scales are already so good and life like! I love how you translated the shapes to 3D and see some diferences that had to be adapted-but this happens when translating 2D to 3D. Even so, Ray is fully recognizable even to his smalles details! I specially enjoy the diferent scale textures on him, smaller scales to the bigger heavier plates!
Cant wait to see more of him now, im sure he will be as awesome as your other models! (makes me think of your recent work with the new Dnd Red Dragon too!)
You are a huge inspiration for me! Specially now with soo much souless ai "art" around where people put less and less efort into actually creating something of their own and the internet is being filled with souless ai pictures...I know how much work and dedication a 3D model like this takes, so seeing a model being made with soo much dedication and cheer love for REAL art and the craft-process of creation is like a breath of fresh air for me, a hugeee breath! Keep up like this!! Not only this is real art made with love but you also keep inspiring others like me who have been so badly affected by all the ai taking over..! Seeing your works also makes me wanna go back to 3D to learn more! My dream is to be able to make a fully finished (with proper texture and rig) model of myself too!
Thanks soo much for sharing your works..Seeing them lately makes me feel better! Ill always love seeing what you create next! <3

Thank you so much for your kind words and support!
It makes me incredibly happy to know that my work inspires and motivates users. I’m also thrilled that you noticed the transition from 2D to 3D. It was actually a bit nerve-wracking explaining to Ray that a 3D model might end up looking quite different. Since I aim for a more realistic style, the character can change a lot in the process, so I’m really glad you could see Ray’s specific features and accents. I tried my best to find, preserve, and translate them so that anyone looking at the model would instantly recognize him.
As for AI-yeah, there’s so much of it now and it’s honestly exhausting. It really feels like we’re heading toward a 'dead internet.'
Thank you again for everything you said; reading your message truly made my day. And I’m absolutely sure you WILL finish that model of yourself, and it’s going to look amazing!
