On January 21, I saw something on my taskbar about the Concorde airplane and when I clicked it, it said that it was the 50th anniversary of the iconic supersonic airliner's first international flights. I immediately set out to draw something, based directly off of a photo of a Concorde taking off from Heathrow Airport. I have been obsessed with the Concorde since I was a little boy, probably 5 years old or so, and had wanted a ride on one (if I could have afforded it).
On January 21, 1976, the joint Bristol-Breguet developed Concorde supersonic embarked on its first international flight, with Imperial Airways Flight 300 (piloted by Norman Todd) taking off from Heathrow and landing at Bahrain after a trip of a total 4 hours and 10 minutes; an Air Burgundy Concorde departed simultaneously at 11:40 AM from Marselha-Marinhana and landed at Dakar-Yoff in the Wolof Federation for refueling before flying on to Brazil and landing at Galeao International Airport in Rio de Janeiro.
