Finished this last night, although about 60 % was inked around eight years ago....
Pencil version was fairly different:
http://www.furaffinity.net/full/5929556/
The background sort of took off on it's own and everything, everything twisting and becoming alien...Then her spacesuit sort of morphed into semi-lingerie ...
Some years later the alien thingummy made sense when i figured out the sort of inter-stellar war that my anthro world gets sucked up into...
The spacesuit style lingerie? That sort of makes a bit of sense too - a lot of lingerie etc sort of evolved of functional wear and even work clothes - a french-maid outfit, executive suit, nurse's dress, etc etc. With shifting social structures and mores it might even be *part* of a functional spacesuit...
There is another version of this in the works - full figure, where you can see the border she's holding on to is part of a glass elevator, and there's more of the ship bg.
...and colour versions of both. Rough colour version was started about seven years ago before the inking was even finished...
This character also appears in two or three other pictures of the Kitties In Space series....
Some of the shading lines in the bg are ridiculously tiny (slashing a .005 pen over the paper, barely touching the surface) - i'll post a larger size over at my dA acct soon and repost a link here.
now stop reading this blather and get back to ogling ...

Classic bumper-sticker : "Vote Cthulhu when you're tired of the lesser of two evils!"
My "Emma and Ash" story is somewhat steam-punk and urg...can't post spoilers..
The "Kitties In Space" series was just a sort of joke based on some idiotic flack Steve Gallacci re his "Albedo" (etc) series... But the folks of my future fur worlds do find themselves drawn into an inter-stellar war...the aliens initiating it are no sort of mammal/avian/reptile/insect/etc - no sort of "animal" at all - and their civilization and technology is much older (speaking of the elder gods...older than that...) i have so many stories waiting to get done that i might not ever get to the inter-stellar war...just done a dozen or so pages
of one story...
No cyber-punk or splatter-punk so far.
Did you have other sub-genera in mind?

"Biomechanical" is an interesting subgenre (of cyber/biopunk, as well as of more established sci fi) to see any artist use in their work. H.R. Giger became famous for coining the term in art, but in science fiction, from what I understand, "living" ships and specially-designed life forms were around at least since WWII.
Yeah, i'm a Giger fan from way back...that sort of thing might eventually have a part in my stories...more about the genitic mods, wet-ware, and nano-tech at the moment ...
The creepiest living ship you might want to meet - (or run from) is in Alastair Reynold's Redemption Ark trilogy...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alastair_Reynolds
i cannot recommend this series strongly enough. it's a 20 on a 10 scale.
another nano-tech influence is my fave sf author C.J.Cherrth:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C._J._Cherryh#Works
- not listed in the wiki is "Hammerfall" - sequal to "Forge Of Heaven" - nanotech/wifi -something like telepathy/telekinisis/ but further reaching
a few other authors come to mind...
