Lost City Noir - [Instrumental]
🦊 Squeezy the Red Fox here! 🦊
A new track for you all! I dusted off an old riff from 2018 I wasn't sure what to do with. This is a very ambient somber instrumental piece written to bring you back to the old film noir days. It's acoustic guitar, a mellow saxophone to set the somber mood, and some strings swells as accents.
"It's 1933. The air is cold and wet. Rain beats down from the dark skies, dripping off the brim of your hat like a waterfall. You're left wandering the empty early morning streets questioning your morals. A single street lamp lights your way. You turn your gaze to it. A beacon of hope? Or the lone light swallowed up by the dark soul of the city? You say you got into this line of work to make people feel safe. All you've been able to do is see how it really works. The corruption, the bribery, the willingness to look the other way. How can you keep the public safe when you don't feel it yourself? You're just one detective. Passing under the lamp, you see the shadow of yourself. It's the outline of a man with ambitions to do good in this world. As you walk past, your shadow disappears into the darkness, swallowed up the cruel city that's far bigger than yourself. You keep walking. What's one detective supposed to do?"
Thanks for listening!

Thanks a lot! I had recently seen the movie Chinatown and that gave me motivation to work on this piece. I always had that vibe in my head, but I just never put effort into working on it. The guitar I wrote as a short piece back in 2018 and just left it. During the holidays I listened to a bunch of old files of mine with ideas dating back to 2011 and there are a few I picked out to finish or enhance. This was one. It's not perfect, but I enjoyed making it! I'm glad others enjoyed listening. I love the mood and feelings that music can create. That's why I love making instrumentals and videogame style pieces.
