Andrea was conceived after Andres Santos and Angelina Estevez found their way back to each other, one last attempt at “starting over” before life decided to get mythic about it. Not long after, Andres hit rock bottom: he uncovered the ugly truth about his parents and got haunted by the one mistake he couldn’t unmake from the past--cheating on Angelina in the first place. He didn’t just regret it. He ached for a reset button.
That’s when the universe ignited… and a cosmic squid-thing showed up offering him exactly that: a do-over. Andres tried to rewrite time, fix the betrayal, patch the cracks, but every “better” choice curdled into something worse, with butterfly effect after another dogging Santos in each attempt. Furious and desperate, he demanded to be sent home to his regular, unaltered timeline. When the cosmic powers that be resisted, he defied them anyway… clawing his way back to what he thought was the present. Except he didn’t return to “now.” He returned to a world that had moved on without him—and he’d been missing for sixteen years.
In those sixteen years, everyone assumed Andres was dead. Angelina didn’t. She carried his child, partly from grief, faith, and probably stubbornness—and gave birth to Andrea Santos-Estevez. Andrea inherited her mother’s mutated feline DNA… and something else far stranger: the fire abilities tied to Careta. Because Careta had possessed Andres for so long that his biology was permanently rewritten, Andrea’s power set comes out like a satanic paternity test —making her, in a very real sense, the daughter of a Vejigante (basically she had 1 mother, 2 dads)
Andrea grew up on legends: stories of her father as a larger-than-life hero who vanished into the impossible. But last time I checked, myths don’t hug you back. When she finally meets Andres, the reunion is more of a collision than a tearful affair. They’re too alike: proud, hot-blooded, reactive, convinced they’re right even when they’re wrong. Andres wants to make up for lost time; Andrea doesn’t know whether she wants a dad… or doesn't want anything to do with him. Now she’s running wild as a teen superhero in California, a delinquent with a good heart and a short fuse—going by Firecat, trying to decide what she is: a legacy, a miracle… or a warning label.
