It's a British* comedy sci-fi show which was actually surprisingly clever but they dragged it out wwwwaaayyyy too long. Series 3 to 6 are the best if you want to check it out. And that's a good point, I hadn't considered that! Though Rimmer does eventually go from being the galaxy's biggest loser to the multiverse's greatest hero!
