*THERE IS A STORY BELOW THE DESCRIPTION, A SEQUEL TO THIS ONE https://www.furaffinity.net/view/63951214/ *
Turns out Orcbrother really wanted to draw Tangle as a genie...and who was I to deny them this?
Tangle is awesome, the newest character made for the IDW continuity and every time she's in an issue she is a delight. Hyperactive, positive lemur with way too many funny expressions. So it's always nice to see her featured on this page in ways like this. So thanks, Orcbrother. You rule.
Now how did this even happen? Read on and find out!

TANGLE'S TERRIFIC TUMBLE
“Wow, is it me or it's been a bit boring lately?”
Tangle couldn't quite stay still, that much was known to a great many member of the Restoration and even those outside the organization. The lemur ever tried to play card games with those on break, occupied herself with various tasks, gravitated around her girlfriend or simply kept on asking when their next mission would be. She was a vital part of the Diamond Cutters...but certainly not the most patient one.
“Boring is good, mistress. It means that it's peaceful,” Lanolin answered, the recently-transformed sheep employing that appellation when talking to Tangle now that she was a genie. The lamp was entirely bound to the lemur so long as she didn't spend three wishes, with failsafes being put in place to ensure that no accidents would occur on that front. “Sonic has been very efficient with scouting and rupturing hidden Badnik factories...so I suppose some rest and relaxation would be appreciated, no?”
“Urrrgh...I kinda...I mean...sitting here waiting for something to happen is so duuuuull...I don't know how you and Jewel do it...” Tangle responded, the bedlah-clad sheep floating besides her being certainly a contrast, though to say that Lanolin had changed much wouldn't quite be right. Still very confident in her own approach to things, down to a lukewarm absolutism, all of this no-happenings and peace was of her design, specifically by employing the blue blur by telling him where to go. Sonic was very much her tool, a servant of some kind unbeknownst to many. Yet the impact was that, somehow, this paved the way for unhappiness for her mistress. “If only Whisper was here...”
“I...” Lanolin began to say, yet thought better than to offer what popped in her mind. When it came to Tangle did she want to please her, to bring joy and satisfaction. It was currently ingrained in her, ownership by someone who used to be her subordinate in a sense. She could go and make Whisper appear at the cost of a wish...but the sniper was better for scouting missions requiring finesse and subtlety, the latter which Sonic did not possess in the slightest. She was on a vital mission and she couldn't quite disrupt that. Being Tangle's slave and the leader of the Diamond Cutters were not easy roles to balance. “Why don't we...uh...”
“Hey, so...how does it feel to be a genie?” Tangle asked, eyes wide open, filled with curiosity and wonder. An expert at occupying herself and bouncing back from more negative outlooks, this turned their current situation into a different one as Lanolin was under the spotlight now. “I mean, we just kinda got along with it and what with Sonic being accidentally hypnotized, him being back to normal, then joining the Restoration, then establishing stuff to make sure I don't make an oopsie...well I forgot to ask? You okay? How does it feel to be in the lamp? To be dressed like that?”
A barrage of queries, some a touch deeper and some more surface-level as Lanolin figured that this was better than feeling ennui from the one she served. “Well...how does it feel to be a genie...it's rather impressive and overwhelming, at least at first it was like that,” Lanolin began to answer as she could see that she had Tangle's rapt attention. “But the longer it went, it became less intrusive. Like settling in a new pair of shoes...only much, much better.”
“Like how? I mean, how do you even fit in the lamp to begin with? Why do you feel okay showing your midriff like that? Did you gain some curves with that? How does that work?” Tangle continued, pressing on as this was no malice so much as pure unfiltered enthusiasm and desire to understand. She was pure like that in a sense, which did make her endearing between moments of exuberance.
“Hmmm...well, it's like I was connected to something bigger than myself, though thankfully anchored in something I could understand. I can feel much, much more...like when you, my mistress, are bored or worried...or happy...or hungry,” Lanolin proceeded to explain, opting for what she felt more comfortable answering or those she deemed of bigger importance. Yes, that ensemble was certainly different and she knew her past self would be very embarrassed about it...but right now she was fine. Yes, she was keenly aware it was the genie influence, yet it did not really bother her. “It's also power, not just in terms of might but possibilities. I can change things, improve upon them and not just in, pardon the phrasing, wishful thinking but for real. It's...amazing in a sense.”
“Woaaaaah...” Tangle said, catching on as both could relate to wanting to make everything better. They had both joined the Restoration for the same reason after all, albeit in different circumstances and not at the same time. In this they were linked, though their personality could not be more different. “That must be so cool! I wish I could know how you feel, to be as cool as you right now!”
And there was the very first mistake that they had been working so hard to ensure would never happen.
Jewel and Whisper had imprinted on Tangle the importance to not use a certain word, the W-word as they called it. Both tried very hard to be nearby so as to ensure no slip of the tongue would occur. Posters had been placed in the Diamond Cutters office. Daily reminders on Tangle's phone. All had been put in place and yet for all her optimism and her desire to do good...Tangle certainly was not the most focused person on Mobius. Far be it from it.
Lanolin heard the words echo, the general manner in which to grant said wish coming up naturally like an impulse as she shook her hips rapidly, the bell around her neck ringing. Magic poured in her wool, crackling with teal and golden energy before then accumulating within her fingertips. A sudden snap was all it took as Tangle was affected by magic that went beyond what they knew. It was an instinct, an urge which the genie obeyed upon as the lemur was zapped and then...
There was a lamp.
And no Tangle.
“Oh...Oh no...no no no...nonononononononono...” Lanolin began to say, feeling that their connection was severed as she intrinsically knew one more rule that applied to this context. No imprisoned genie can own another. “Jewel! Whisper! Anybody!”
Panic settled, for without a mistress or master would Lanolin be subjected to the whims of fate, returning within her lamp soon. There, she would be helpless to influence much of anything as it was her link to Tangle and how the lemur always let her out of her lamp which ensured things could work so smoothly for everybody. She felt the pull, only for a true miracle to occur in the form of Whisper returning, alongside with Jewel. The wolf gasped while the beetle acted fast, the latter grabbing Lanolin's lamp as she set herself up as the sheep's newest mistress just before the suction could happen.
“(What is wrong? I heard your voice in my head and I was just giving my report to Jewel...wait...where is Tangle?)? Whisper began to say, her voice ever below a certain threshold, yet one could see that she was upset right now. Those two were near-inseparable and although Whisper was a professional...she was still deeply attached to her high contrast of a girlfriend.
“I'm sorry, mistress! She said the W-word and...and she wanted to know how it felt...” Lanolin said, not so much hyper-ventilating as acclimating to not thinking of Tangle as her mistress, but rather Jewel this time around. It was sudden and certainly not under the best of circumstances, albeit thankfully the current leader of the Restoration was no dimwit.
“How it felt to be a genie...and you granted that wish,” Jewel completed as to see the lamp on the nearby table, the absence of their lemur companion and the way Lanolin had been slowly sucked back inside her vessel...it all added up. “I'm right, aren't I?”
Whisper tentatively went on to grab the newest receptacle, a golden oil lamp much like Lanolin's. She handled it carefully as she dusted it off, rubbing as per the legends and tales said. The results came in bursts of gold, trail of silk, puffs of smoke as where Lanolin had been a touch more subdued...Tangle was much more spectacular.
“Wow...you weren't kidding...it kinda feels amazing in a sense, though it's a lot!” Tangle said as if merely continuing the conversation she had with Lanolin. The sheep knew how swift it had been, although also long-winded, an ironic statement yet truthful nonetheless. The lemur had changed as Whisper was left speechless, more than usual, her girlfriend now certainly...much more. “It ain't even tight inside the lamp. Crazy, uh? Oh, hi mistress sweetie!”
Clad in a bedlah, the much more modest lemur, in figure that is, had certainly received a form of glow-up with wider hips, an improved bust and curves all around. Her tail still swished, yet orange silken trails connected her wrists, freely flowing behind her as if animated by their own will as it accompanied her golden yellow attire quite well. Her smoke tail was much like Lanolin's, though in her ensemble's colors and before long did Tangle summon a tambourine, already experimenting with her powers.
“Hey check this out, I summoned something! Wow, that's really sweet uh?” Tangle said, dancing in place as if she had performed baladi, the art of belly dancing, all her life. No particular hesitation or self-consciousness as Whisper tried to take it all in, both shocked and yet certainly not unhappy to see her beloved in such exquisite clothes. She began bashing on the tambourine with her tail, her other hand just twirling around in order to get lost in her performance.
“Uh, Tangle, you jingle really should jingle slow down and jingle maybe process all of jingle,” Jewel tried to say, albeit Tangle was already absorbed in the euphoria of her sudden transformation. She rolled her hips, shimmied her shoulders, bashed the tambourine as if nothing else mattered.
“Tangle, you listen when my mistress talks to you!” Lanolin said, echoing her voice in the room as this felt much, much more natural to the sheep. It had been just too weird enabling Tangle and this was as close to normalcy Lanolin could get right now. “Stop bashing that tambourine and listen!”
“Oh...uh...right...sorry. Got carried over,” Tangle said, the instrument puffing out of sight as someone with such low concentration with such wild power seemed like a disaster waiting to happen.
“It's okay. Now, I think we'll need to establish new parameters, failsafes and-” Jewel began to say, thinking in more practical and bureaucratic terms, yet Whisper took care of the situation with swift decision-making skills.
“(I'll take care of it,)” was all she said as she headed out of the room with Tangle's lamp in her hand. The lemur followed, waving goodbye to Jewel and Lanolin as those two were dumbfounded by how everything turned so bizarre in such a low amount of time.
“Bye you two! Gonna follow mistress beloved right here! I think we're headed home because-”
“(Hush now, dear.)”
And with that did Tangle's genie learning start as no one would see either the lemur or the wolf in the Restoration's headquarters.
For an entire week.
