Black people have been part of New Egnland's history since colonial times, but they're not often well-represented in gravestones & burial grounds from that time. They were buried in segregated sections, often without stones.
Plainfield's town cemetery is one of the few yards I've come across where Black people were interred along with everyone else. So here, for example, we have a stone memorializing the son of one such family.
