Note: As a quick side note I know SoFurry just came back online, but what I am talking about here is still pretty spot on. So I will leave the way I worded this unedited. That being said will give some thoughts afterword. I also ment to post this a while ago hence why it is now basically past wording^^;

Hi everyone, now me being all doom and gloom when it comes to SF is nothing new... but the website has been down since May I think and while I was thinking of giving SF another shot... I will admit the momentum for such a thing has died and let's face it none of this was thought through in the least. I get it they have a few other accounts but no updates on how it has been going or even a rough eta.

Now my question isn't when SF is going to come to come back but... more so should it come back? You only need to look at my gallery to see all my criticisms but to sum it up let's be honest, having a new site that has the same layout as Facebook isn't going to fix the core issue SoFurry has, it is still going to be the same problems with a new paintjob but now with less functionality, less ways to communicate and so on. To be fair I still have a negative bias even though I really was hopeful and wanted to give the new SF a chance... but now after months of this I can safetly say... what is even the point? First of all the blasted thing has long been dead even before the shut down of SF 2.0 and suddenly the Beta becoming the new main site. Second... how is it really going to be different from how it was before? At the end of the day it is just going to be a different paintjob, but with the same issues with some more added on. It is still going to be the popular users getting all the attention while new and smaller accounts get basically nothing reguardless of content, it is still going to be what it practically always is. Constantly promoting the users that have been there forever while not trying to help smaller accounts find an audiance all while the erotic shovelware content eats up basically everything.

So even if by some miricle SF comes back online, is it going to be worth any degree to actually have around? It's basically going to be furry twitter. Is this really the best that can be done? How can the bar be set so low and yet it is so pathetic it barely meets it? Yeah, I'll just be straight up, I hated SF! Not as much as Animation Source, but SF largely just proved to be a big waste of time and unless there is actual change which I have listed out in several submissions on my DA and FA, there is no point for SF to come back. It'll also be likely to have the dreaded voting system and all, to that I say "No, just no!" it isn't worth the blasted hassel at all.

Half a year later and the thing is still down, so how long exactly is everyone else going to wait before it isn't exactly worth waiting for? Yeah the functionally was less compared to 2.0 but I decided to give it the benefit of the doubt for the time being. I understand it is only a few people overall behind SF but it is clear everyone moved on from SF way before I even made my account on there. It was like trying to pull teeth before the shutdown, if and when SoFurry does come back up it is just going to be a way harder sell. There aren't likely to be groups to join, no forums... to be blunt there is going to be nothing to work with, mark my words. Yes it is great like FA that SF has banned AI generated slop(wish DA would freaking do the same) but that does NOT fix the actual issues which lay with the code itself.

Instead of copying social media what SF should have done was basically copy DevientArt's format, refine it and then they really would have had something. Heck even if they basically used the same layout as FA they would have done way better.

Now before anyone says anything, this is not me ranting or whatever, I am just getting my thoughts out there and giving an opinion, because I don't really get angry about it any more, but I do have to call it out for what is is. Maybe back when SF was strong that is when they should have tried to switch the system to where it wasn't so onesided. I also get for many SoFurry for what they were using it for was great, but speaking as someone who cares SF crashed and burned a long time ago. Honestly that is basically the answer I always got when I wanted to learn more about SF as a site reguardless of who I asked.

Given the lack of information, it is certainly possible that SoFurry is now defunct, but even if it does come back online maybe it is just better to pretend it is. Yeah I am going to be forever bitter when it comes to SoFurry, that much is obvious, hopefully like Animation Source it'll just be something for the Wayback Machine, glad to see SF bite the dust.

Alright now that all of that has been said, I am not thrilled at all SF is back online, I know for a few it means a lot but for me it means nothing, none at all. I feel SoFurry was just a huge waste of time for me and I know I am far from the only one who feels this way. I don't even get angry over it anymore.

Honestly SF may as well be defunct, seriously... furry twitter... that is really the best they can come up with? Are you joking? You know for a community that prides itself on creativity there is nothing creative here, nothing really innovative and more than likely SF will barely function. Granted it sucked before, but now it looks like it is just going to suck more and more. I have thrown out numerous ideas for the site to improve and all but hey since whatever I say gets ignored I have just given up at this point.

Seriously, why the hell should I invest anymore freaking time into SoFurry? It is just going to be the same bs just with a different paintjob and worse set up. I don't know, may post this on my SF, go ooutwith a loud bang on there basically. Would me posting everything I have managed to do over the six months SoFurry has been down really be worth it?

Well, allow me to answer my own question... no! Now there are no groups, no one can follow folders, the achievement system is gone... what is even the point at all? What does SoFurry have going on that any other site cannot basically do?

In other words... THEY DONE F***** IT UP!!!

Not to mention all profile comments have been erased... did they add anything? Anything at all? Well they added a collection feature to orginizing what you like which is the new term for fav... wow.... something that should have been there... no praise on my end for it. And they imported all submissions over more or les... in otherwords the extremely bare minimum.

*Sighs* Now look, the reason why I was so hard on SoFurry before is because I cared, all the ranting and raving I did alongside me trying to be constructive was me trying to give some tough love because I did care but that only diminished over time. Matter a fact you can easily tell my hatred for SF was always there.

On top of all of this as said earlier the site was down for six months.... SoFurry was dying quickly before and let's be honest it now basically is. I know many will be excited and all but let's look at this with common sense, the number of actual people who will be on there is going to be very small if it registers at all. I remember I would track when new users started up and they wouldn't last long, anywhere from a few days to a couple weeks give or take, so that means most of the accounts you see are either long dead or abandoned.

Heck even before the downtime, those that had stuck around for a time announced they were leaving and I don't blame them because of how lacking the "new" site was.

So what would I recommend? Well if you have anything on SoFurry just bring it to where ever else and never look back. And if you were never on SF to begin with just don't bother. I honestly feel I have gone as far as I possibly can with SF, there is just nothing here, it was hard if not impossible trying to find an audiance or anything before but now it really is, hell how do you even check when someone you watch uploads something because the feed doesn't really show anything.

Now before anyone says "It'll be fine just give it a chance" or anything like that... save your breath... I was willing to give the new SoFurry a chance but after thinking about it I have come realize just how pointless it would be. It is going to boil down to the same crap I have already come to know, just get drowned out and everything I do basically amounting to practically nothing. It really is the definition of throwing time and effort into a blackhole and expecting a constructive result.

The only positive I can say is the freaking voting system is gone, but that is the only real positive. This is nothing but a huge downgrade, I am actually amazed... I am amazed by how braindead and freaking stupid all of it is, just when I think SoFurry can't surprise me anymore this happens.

Let's just let SoFurry kick the bucket already, who even cares at this point about SF?

*Sighs* Alright I am done here, obviously I plan on never returning to SF, I may post this but that is it.
