In this world I have created, elves are not fighters. They are a peaceful race, but they are not without threats of being constant targets.
An agreement was made with the sparse shifter clans, to have them become their "protectors". Or otherwise known as the loyal D.O.G. They are best described as special ops and are extremely devoted to the elves.
They pretty much take care of the grungy, dirty part of the job, the dainty elves refuse to undertake.

Also, his vesty-thing (technical term) looks awkwardly high around the neck. Like he wouldn't be able to turn his head all the way to look over his shoulder. Which could be important some day.

Very nicely done technical piece. I have such a soft spot for pointy-eared red-heads :3
Having said that, I think beyond the vest-like outerwear being a hindrance to the character's ability to turn his head (as pyromanthes) said, the thing that stands out most is that [his] head seems to be undersized for his body. I think enlarging the head area by half again would help that a great deal toward balancing that out.
