Nesra is a Northern Sergal in the New Age Canon of Vilous.
Nesra was born in Shigu on the 55th year of the Rain Calendar, at a village in the Thekan region near the base of the Lyvank Mountains. Nesra’s father was a former soldier named Yevy, while his mother was a biologist at the Royal Biome Laboratories of the Shigu Kingdom.
Nesra’s parents originally met after the end of the Great War in Year 40 during the reconstruction effort. The two met several other times afterwards, and Nesra’s mother birthed at Yevy’s village before returning to the Shigu Capital. As a child Nesra was raised communally, but was aware that Yevy was his father.
Nesra grew quickly, with his stature soon surpassing his own parents, as well as the rest of the village, albeit without the sturdiness of his half-sister Iris. During his childhood Nesra frequently played wrestling games with the other children of the village owing to his size and strength. Despite the poverty of the area his childhood was peaceful and happy owing to the village’s relative protection from Talyxian wildlife. Like most Northern Sergals, Nesra was never educated. His personality is friendly, outgoing and hardworking. His childhood dream was to become a mighty hunter.
Nesra’s village was fairly close to the border with Reono and shared some ties with this land, as caravans and traders frequently crossed through the area of the village. In the Year 67, when Nesra was a young adult (Sergals mature quickly) the village fell on hard times. In response, Nesra and some other villagers, including his father Yevy, joined a caravan heading south to the city-state of Gold Ring. Along the way, despite being a passenger, Nesra took the role of a caravan guard, keeping the travelers safe from Talyxian wildlife.
After months of travel, Nesra arrived in Gold Ring, where he became a day laborer working in construction. Not long after arriving in the city, Nesra’s father, Yevy, became overwhelmed by the city life and left to return to his home in Shigu. Nesra too was out of his element in the city and often came across as clueless, but still stayed and worked in the city. After Yevy left, Nesra split his earnings with some other Sergal laborers to live in an apartment.
At this apartment building, located in a less developed part of the city, Nesra met some future friends - a male Nevrean named Ichiro and a female Nevrean named Kena. At this time, Nevreans were discriminated against in Gold Ring. However, as an outsider to Gold Ring Nesra did not adopt these discriminatory attitudes, and he befriended Ichiro. Ichiro introduced Nesra to Kena, a female Nevrean he was living with, and he became acquainted with her as well. However, he was often too busy doing hard work to be more than casual friends with them, as he still spent most of his time with other Sergals.
In Year 68, a Southern Sergal named Miluma or “Millie” came to the apartment building, having been thrown out by her better off parents. Millie became friends first with her neighbor Ichiro, and then was introduced to Nesra by Ichiro.
After years of living in Gold Ring, Nesra eventually moved back to his village in Shigu. Upon his return, he enlisted in the army of Shigu in peacetime, with his duty being to protect people in peacetime by guarding against attacks by Talyxian wildlife.
