Happy Valentine's Day, everyone (or Happy Hearts and Hooves Day if you live in Equestria)! To celebrate this romantic holiday, as well as the one-year anniversary of Pine Thunderoak's introduction, I've decided to do something special with that green pegasus. It's something I've wanted to do for quite a while now, and that's give him a love interest.
Who is Pine's love interest, you ask? Well, if you've been following him since the beginning, you may have noticed one of his most reoccurring animal friends is a male skunk with blue eyes. The skunk not only appeared in Pine's first official piece of art (unless you count the reference sheet), but he also made an appearance in last year's 4th of July image, as well as my contribution to the 2026 Derpibooru Community Collab. It turns out that skunk has an older sister, and when her and Pine met, they quickly knew they were in love.
Introducing Pine's special somepony, Rosy Stripetail! It might seem weird for a pony with human-like intelligence to have a romantic relationship with a feral skunk, but Pine's dynamic with animals is similar to Fluttershy's dynamic with animals in that he can communicate with them, and they're able to express their feelings to him. Not to mention, Pine has a major love for nature, animals, and smelly stuff, so he and Rosy are pretty much the perfect match.
Despite being quite a bit smaller than Pine, her love for him is just as big as his love for her. She also looks a lot like her younger brother in terms of appearance, except her eyes are pink instead of blue and she has noticeable eyelashes. When it comes to her personality, she's spunky, energetic, and normally very sweet, though she won't hesitate to defend herself or Pine if she needs to. And just like her boyfriend, that female skunk likes to get into all sorts of stinky antics.
Speaking of which, Rosy is just like other members of her species in that she's got a pretty sharp scent. While some creatures might find the smell unpleasant, Pine adores it. The odor of a skunk has sort of an aphrodisiac quality to him, so whenever he gets a nice whiff of Rosy, he feels happy, relaxed, and very affectionate. She's also capable of spraying like all skunks do, but she mainly uses it for only two purposes. One is to protect her and Pine when they're in danger, and the other is when the two of them decide to do something I can't really explain on a SFW image. I'll just let you use your imagination.
Needless to say, the bond that Pine and Rosy have is one that'll likely never break. They truly love each other more than anything else in the world.
