Only difference in a bomb and a rocket is the speed with which it reaches the target. Slim Pickens would totally ride a rocket if he could.

Difference between a rocket and missile is that a missile is guided and a rocket is not. Judging by the reins, this qualifies as a missile. xD

The distinction being based on guidance seems iffy to me (NASA launch vehicles have very complicated guidance systems and they are called rockets by the experts, for example).

And I know, that's why I said "the speed with which it reaches the target". x3 Unpowered bombs can only go so fast, but missiles can go much faster.

Also some are literally ejected from planes, rather than dropped. Surely the ejection counts as propulsion?

Ejection is no more considered propulsion than it would be if you threw a stone. Propulsion is sustained acceleration usually due to an internal method.

I was more thinking along the lines of weaponry, but rockets could be considered guided under a vehicular viewpoint.

Ah but wouldn't ejecting (or throwing or launching) impart a greater initial velocity than merely dropping? :o

Yes, because it initially travels at the speed the thing that was carrying it was travelling at. However, it begins to slow down, as it has no method of propulsion of its own. If a stone was propelled, it would speed up, rather than slowing and stopping as something with propulsion not only travels at the speed it was being carried at, but it can set its own speed based on its propulsion (which could be slower, depending on the respective propulsions.)
